Announced on Friday by Nintendo is a new feature for the Wii Shop Channel--the channel where Wii owners can buy Virtual Console games and WiiWare. This new feature will allow Wii owners to gift Virtual Console games to any of their Wii friends, by purchasing the game on the Wii Shop Channel, and then sending a notice to the friend's Wii to download the game.
This makes for some good possibilities. Birthday Gifts? Secret Santa?
The estimated launch is unknown, but many assume it will be in time for the holidays.
Wii owners will soon be able to buy games on the Wii Shop to send to a friend's Wii via a new gift feature, Nintendo has revealed.
The new Wii Shop feature will allow users to purchase a game (a Virtual Console game, for example) to send as a gift to another Wii owner. The recipient will then be notified of the gift and, once they accept, their Wii will automatically log into the Wii Shop to download the selected game.
Nintendo hopes this will get a larger portion of Wii owners to make use of the Wii's online capabilities. Company president, Satoru Iwata, said: "We think this will be a breakthrough in encouraging customers to spread news of fun games [other than by?] word of mouth."
"We also hope to spur more users to connect their Wiis to the Internet," he added, reports Yahoo.
A launch date for the new feature is yet to be set.

Also, why can't you just send them Wii points, so they can choose which game they want?
And yeah, sending Wii points would probably be better.
It would be cool if we get to keep the game as well, but I doubt it. If that's the case, I'm forcing my friend to send me alot of games.
Thankyou Nintendo!
I imagine only the person who's receiving it will get the game, but hwo knows..
I know tons of people who would love this. Not to mention that it reduces the level of hassle of buying items from online or from the store. Thanks Nintendo!
