For today's update, Sakurai and Nintendo unleashed a Stage Builder mode, where you can create your own stages where you can design the layout, choose a backdrop, and the background music (from whatever you have available.)
The also more interesting feature of this builder mode is that it is Wifi-enabled, allowing users to send to friends and Nintendo. Nintendo is also considering a daily stage-of-the-day, and allowing everyone to play said stage on that given day. Apparently, the only drawback is that the stage can't be saved.
Oh, remember that purple button? That's the submit button, as shown in the Stage Builder screens. It works for the snapshots feature too.
All hail Sakurai. Shun the non-believers!
Stealth updates:
Music: Bramble Blast from Donkey Kong
Music: Snowman from Mother series
Game Mode: Submit button for Snapshots
You can create your own stages this time?! No way. REALLY?! With a feature like that, wont I be able to play this game forever?!
Those who enjoy a little effort may be able to enjoy this stage builder for the rest of their lives.
You start by choosing the size of the stage, the background pattern, and the music that will play. Oops! Sorry. For music, youll only be able to choose from the songs you have available.
Basically, you choose parts from the palette on the side and place them in the field.
The controls vary by controller, but each one can do the following:
* Flip parts left to right
* Enlarge or shrink parts
* Zoom in or out on the screen
* Swap palettes
* Erase
...Among other things.
Modify it and try it... Repeat as necessary. Make your own ideal stage!
You can change the music on the save screen. Choose something that matches the mood of your stage.
And Im happy that this is compatible with SD cards. You dont have to worry about size, so make as many stages as you like.
Also, if youve finished registering someone as both a Wii Friend and a Smash friend, youll be able to send custom stages to each other.
Now, for those who hate putting effort into such things, weve also prepared something you can enjoy as well.
Thats right! You can use your Wi-Fi connection to send stages youve made to Nintendo! (However, you cant submit repeatedly. Maybe just once per day?)
And a stage selected from the entire daily collection will be sent from Nintendo to your Wii. A stage made by someone else will come to you over the Internet once per day!
DUN DUN DUNNNNNN! Thats the shocking truth. This means youll be able to experience a new stage every daythe flavor of the day, if you will. However, the plan is for that stage to vanish once one day has passed. Its a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
You can submit in both the Snapshots mode and the Stage Builder mode, allowing everyone to enjoy the creations of others. The fun of sharing is one of the ways that I wanted to take advantage of Wi-Fi for something other than pure battling.
This is our ideal current plan. We still dont know the exact service period. And future tuning may result in changes to the spec.
But for now, please look forward to it!

Come on Nintendo, stop teasing .. we want this now!
I wonder how many Nazi swastika "inspired" stages Nintendo's gonna get from silly fools though.
I can spend hours creating custom stages on games like Age of Empires II. I'm going to love creating levels in this. Of course, I'm going to send a lot of stages to friends, as well. To top it off, they added a "Stage of the Day" feature to ensure that I will be permanently attached to the couch.
And to think I wasn't that hyped about this game earlier.
No wonder why Nintendo delayed this game until February. They are trying to make every feature in this game usuable online, like the snapshots, recording game footage, stage creator, etc. You could literally share all of your creations with a friend through Wifi.
I bet there will be like no one that has a Wii without SSBB. The pictures prove that it has great graphics, and backs up the claims of so many characters. I still believe the expectations are a little high right now.
they finally did something right!
