Many Unhappy Faces With PS3 2.0 Fireware Update!

ITANI | November 08, 2007 | News | Playstation 3
The PS3's fireware 2.0 update has finally been released and as it's meant to bring what most PS3 users wanted it actually didn't. Many PS3 users are not happy with what they got with this update as most were hoping for in game messaging access and in game XMB access. Although none of those were in the recent update.

Also Sony had the in game XMB in their prototype and it seems strange not to have it in their final release of 2.0.

Oh well, I guess PS3 fans will have to wait for future updates.
There has been quite some controversy over the recent detail release of tomorrow's 2.00 firmware update. If you've been keeping tabs on comments over at the official PlayStation.Blog post for the update, you'll notice a lot of unhappy faces.

Lets hope its not on update 3.0. It took them almost a year to get 2.0 out, I don't want to wait that long again.

An abysmal and pointless update, I just hope they offer something of more use in the future.

I like the themes, and the new PSN logo. Not entirely pointless, just not worth booting up another round of Virtua Fighter 5 to get the XMB in game, because you can't.

There wasn't much point in posting this news...
'Cos Krunal already told us what features are being included.

Thisarticle is not talking about what features 2.0 has because it wouldn't have been approved in the first place if it was.

Ehhhh, not 'pointless', but 'disappointing' neh?

Seriously, what does Sony think they're gonna accomplish from withholding this feature? If they want to add more features to it, that is fine, they can do that AFTER they release the basics...

I hope it is out in firmware 2.1 or something...

I'm unhappy too. This update is crap. The ONLY good thing that came from this update is the playlist feature.

I wasnt completely bummed out, I thought the information board as nice touch, and customizing the icons is cool..... but seriously this shouldnt have been enough to say it was a 2.0 update.

It was a decent update. Why did everyone except so much? The more numbers it goes up the bigger the update right? Well it only went form 1.94 to 2.00 didn't it?

Seriously guys stop complaining. Its not going to do anything. The fact is Sony didn't say were never going to add this. The reason i could think for the in-game XMB not being implementing in the final touch was probably some bugs. Its going to come but you guys are making it out to be the holy grail to compete with the 360. Seriously read Koloth posts in the PS3 forums i happen to agree with it, as well as Chiro. While it could use some use for some people i don't think its should be hyped up like most of you are doing. Most games have music to set up the atmosphere and theme of the song and i pretty much like all of the songs.

Are you saying games like God of War or another where the music is killer you rather listen to music you have already listen to 10 times plus. The in-game feature would do great for Sports, puzzles and strategy. But its definitely not a need that i see everyone should be disappointed with. I found this update very good. So relax not everything we want will be updated in the next Firmware update.
