360 sales beat PS3 in Japan

Surprisingly, the Xbox 360 managed to outsell the PS3 and the PlayStation 2. The Xbox 360 usually trails behind all other consoles, however the underdog managed to triumph and outsell most of its rivals.

Usually trailing behind the Wii, the PlayStation 3, and the PlayStation 2, this week the underdog was on top. The latest figures from Media Create show that the Xbox 360 sold more units than Sony's PS3 in the Land of The Rising Sun for the week ending November 4.

    LOL By 200? Let's celebrate!

    Considering the PS3 has sold more than double the amount sold of 360s in Japan it's like trying to say hooray PS3 when it outsells the 360 here in America where the 360 has sold way more than double.

    Even if it is only 200 units, the 360 selling more than a competitor is still noteworthy in Japan.

      No it's not. As I said, the PS3 has sold more in a week than the 360 here in America, and by far more than 200 units before too. But ultimately each console has respectively sold a lot more in their respective regions.

        If we're looking at this single case, then when you consider the fact that it is Japan, the 360 outselling a competitor any given week is still noteworthy.

          The PS3 has outsold the 360 here in america by way more than 200 some past weeks.

          Nope, still noteworthy. Because the 360 does terrible in Japan, and this a huge jump in console sales.

          Current Week:
          360: 17,673
          PS3: 17,434

          And that's why it's noteworthy.

          And why are you bringing up the Americas? This is the Japanese market under discussion.

          BECAUSE! The 360 is dominating the PS3 in America and my point is that the PS3 has outsold the 360 in America a couple of weeks but still the 360 reigns supreme in America.

          HENCE WHY THIS ISN'T NOTEWORTHY YOU TOOL!

          Because the PS3 is still dominating the 360 in Japan despite this one week. You understand?

          I'll say it again. It is noteworthy because the 360, which is synonymous with chronic fail in Japan, outsold a competing system. Without looking at dominance, without looking at numbers, looking at this simple fact is the reason why it is noteworthy. This is an event that usually does not happen, and thus why it is noteworthy. Why would I care about something dominating another thing if I'm looking at just this one week?

      Are you serious. What a fanboyish statement. Just cause the 360 has gotten some good scores in that week doesn't mean the PS3 is finished. The PS3 still destroys the 360 in the overall sales in japan. While good its only for a week lets see how it ends up the next few weeks.

    I'm quite suprised that happened in Japan, as I'd thought that the majority of best-selling games were RPG styled games, and the 360 only has a couple (that i can think of) dragon fable and elder scrolls.

    What brought this on? Some big Japanese title must have come out for the 360 if its beating the PS3 even if its only for a week and by as little as 200

      Apparently the new Ace Combat game is what sparked the raise in 360 sales.

      For a moment there, I thought that the 360 had COMPLETELY outsold the PS3 in Japan, which I was really shocked at.

      But then I realized it's only for this week. XD

      I don't expect this to happen again. I mean some mean looking games is coming for PS3 Haze NFS PS, SvsR08 and others i haven't meantion.

    For the Love of god stop with these Good bye PS3 crap. Its not over for Sony. You honestly think just cause this week was very good for 360 its all over, get over the fanboyish comments. If your going to start crap like this at least bring proof that the PS3 is going to fail in japan. With the line-up for the PS3 this month the sales will spike up for the PS3.
