DivX technology comes to PS3

Some of you may have noticed that with the PS3's 2.00 firmware, DivX files were being recognized, but, were not playable. Well, today DivX Inc announced that the DivX technology will be integrated into the PS3 using a software update, to be announced at a later date.

Kevin Hell, CEO of DivX, Inc. commented:

­"We are excited to work with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring DivX to PS3. Our technology will expand the multimedia functionality of PS3 by enabling users to enjoy access to the broad library of content in the DivX digital media format."

    This may seem redundant, but what filetypes are included? I know divx and avi, but what about ogg and ogm files? If they're all going to be playable, then this is very good news indeed (now if they could only work on a matroska update).

    Cool so the PS3 will now be compatible with these formats? Thats good news as I have trouble finding video's which work with the PS3. Oh and no there not porn

        Anyway awesome i have plenty of Divx vids here and i have the actual program on my PC.. It gets updated every time. Its freaking sweet. Thats ok Silver no need to hide your admiration of the adult vids

          The only thing you get free is 25 second clips not big vids. Its alright for that day purposes but i prefer the actually buy the video that has my favorites Porn stars in.

          Or better yet, ever heard of Emule? Rapidshare? Megaupload? 4chan? 7chan? uTorrent? Shit, you can find/get almost ANYTHING from those sources haha. You're a fool finalblade.

          Yes i heard of those and yes i do have Limewire but not everything you search for will have your favorite actors trust me i tried and learned the hard way. I prefer buying them( for specific actors) but then again i normally just use the internet for vids.

      I don't need porn either, I have a girlfriend too. Life is better when your girlfriend watches it with you. And yea, I don't know anyone who actually buys porn. I got gigs of it on my PC, full scenes and all and no I don't use any P2P programs. How did the topic even come to this anyway? Oh yea it was me. I just wish this divx codec was released previously. I have a few anime flicks I had to convert, losing quality in the process.

        Anime is pretty awesome as well. I usually download those to be honest, real etc i will buy but only my favorite actors or actresses.
