According to VP Mark Rein, Epic has yet to start development on the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3. So 360 Unreal fans will need to wait quite a lot longer to get their hands on this game.

Mark Rein continues saying that the Playstation 3 version is fully compatible with PC modifications. This will vastly and evidently expand the games lifespan and don't forget this game is one of the kings for online play.

360 development will begin shortly after the Playstation 3 version is complete and Epic will need to sit down with Microsoft to talk about how they will be capable to allow PC mods to work on the Xbox 360, which Epic says won't be easy.

Mark Rein also says that the Unreal Engine has improved over the year since Gears of War has been released on the Xbox 360 and this will be proved when the game is released. Although he never says if UTIII works well on the 360, but just the Unreal Engine.

The Playstation 3 release date is unfortunately still to be confirmed, while the PC version will still be released November 23rd of this month.

God knows when the Xbox 360 version will be released.

Epic hasn't even started on the 360 version of Unreal Tournament III yet, reveals company VP Mark Rein. He says Epic intends to finish the PS3 version before shifting focus to 360 "early next year", when we were originally expecting it to be released.

At this rate, I'll have a PS3 before this come to the 360, so I'll probably end up getting it for the PS3. Either way, I just want this game.

I'm not interested in this game for the 360. It's way to fast gameplay for sticks.

A lot of games have something like this pop up in an article. It's to be expected that some games are just going to take some time to complete.

Take some time to complete, Unreal 3 could be a good 2 years away on the 360 at this rate, i mean it hasn't even been started and it took them 3 years to make the PS3 and PC versions.

That interview isn't exactly accurate. They started working on it around the time of it's announcement, but it was put on hold early this year to wrap up the PS3 and PC versions.

It's not like they haven't done anything for it. Late 08' at the latest.

Good. Sony are getting back at the games we waited for because of the launch like elder scrolls.

Thats amazing. So what the hell was all the talk about the game being released early next year on the 360? Whatever, makes no difference to me,I was going to get the PS3 version anyway. I really hope it comes out this year.

Wow this is very surprising. Can someone explain how its going to be difficult on the 360, i mean i could have sworn devs claimed that ported games from the PS3 to 360 was like cake walk. This almost makes it ironic that Mark Rein would say he's unsure whether it would be good let alone be easy for the 360 to work with the PC mods. I mean essentially the 360 is also similar to a PC just like the PS3, i can't see the difficulty. Seriously im just curious on how its difficult.

But nevertheless this is good news for the PS3 there going to get a timed exclusive for a possible year if not more like Existenz stated.

The PC mods will be difficult to implement, not the game code itself.

There are too many other online shooters to contend with right now, it will be better to spread them out so we can enjoy it once we've all gotten bored of COD4 and Halo 3.

Unreal Tournament is better than COD 4 and Halo 3 combined, i say this without faulter, without regret and without any given proof all i will say is Unreal Tournament 3 will be your new god.

Existenz can you be my god

^^iLLmatic How is it going to be difficult for PC mods, like i said before just like the PS3 the 360 is also similar to a PC it self it should be no worries, could you give me some links.

First of all, the PS3 is not similar to the 360's coding environment. The PS3's OS is more open ended, in a sense, and allows for things like mods. On the other hand, not only would Microsoft want to charge for the mods, which Epic would never want to do, but they also don't currently work with the OS of the 360. Everything has to come through the XBL marketplace. Its not something as simple as saying yes or no; the content you try to install has a component that verifies it's authorization. The problem is, these mods in UT (and any other PC game) are made by users, not Epic. Therefore, these mods have to come from a PC to begin with. If the content is not supported by Microsoft through the marketplace, it doesn't work. The PS3's OS is different. ou can download them, install, and use immediately. This is why Mark Rein said it would be difficult. Epic has to work around these limitations if they are even going to include them in the 360 version, which I don't think they will end up doing.
