Playstation 3 sales have tripled in the U.S since the 18th October price cut, which Sony's very own Howard Stringer describes as "the breakthrough we have been anticipating."

Sony has now sold just over 100,000 PS3's during the week ending November 5th. That's about 3,000 to 4,000 units sold daily.

Howard continues saying how the Wii is having hardware problems meeting the demand in the U.K and U.S. He moves on saying that the Playstation 3 has been taking so much heat over the past year and now they have passed this point.

Things just keep getting better for Sony. Hopefully things will continue this way.

Weekly sales of PS3 have almost tripled in US since the October 18 price drop, which Sony Chairman Howard Stringer describes as "the breakthrough we have been anticipating."

I'm glad that Sony manages to find the bright side to the Wii being so popular that its selling off the shelves and that their PS3 feature slashing is starting to pay off. Perhaps Home and Rachet and Clank are their new killer appz?

The fact is, with the Wii being so god damn expensive, it's nearly impossible to find. Most stores that I've seen are selling them for highly enflamed prices, prices for which you can get the PS3 for, and the biggest draw point of the Wii was meant to be its CHEAPNESS. But if the only Wii you can find is around £300 and your a gamer, you might as well buy a console built for gaming i.e. PS3/XBOX360 which is roughly the same price, a bit more if anything. With the price of the PS3 having come down, it's more affordable than it ever was.

It's not Demand for Wii is more, it's that the supply for it is less. If you're bringing out 10 Wii's and 20 people want a new Wii, then obviously it's going to see as if the Wii is selling like hot cakes. Now if they had 30 Wiis and again 20 people wanted it, then it wouldn't see as though the Wii's were selling "as" fast. This is the difference between whether the demand for them is to high or if it's that Nintendo can't supply them fast enough, personally I'm going to go with the Latter.

Um Krunal please explain your statement "The fact is, with the Wii being so god damn expensive" Last time i check the Wii is actually cheaper than the PS3 and 360, that makes no sense unless you mean in Europe or foreign areas to the U.S than i understand it better. I just need to know what you mean.

Good to see some progress for the PS3. I personally believe its the beginning of the holiday sales. Over the years people have learned to buy console gifts early- A harsh lesson many learned last just year with the Wii. And Sonic Flash has it right. Sony reps certainly are confused about their goals. Next we'll hear:
'Nintendo Happy With Unsold PS3s!' or "Sony Happy About Red Ring of Death And Disc Scratching!'
Well.... Ha. Those made sense. Anyway, I'd still like to see the price go down again before I buy one. Otherwise I'll have to take all sorts of risks by getting a 360 to eventually play Dynasty Warriors 6. Heh...

Yes, now if we can stop the sales articles from getting posted, we'd like to focus on why consumers are involved in the video game World....the games.

So is this for the U.S only or in general, since that would make my article 7 days ago valid. I told you guys PS3 isn't junk, it just needs time and their time has arrived baby.

Finalblade, Krunal means that the Wii is being sold more expensively at some stores/website than what the retail price is when it first came out. Ebay for example. If you can find a Wii on there less than $350, let me know.

The fact is though using an internet store like ebay is a very bad example. I know ebay i have done many things for it and i know your not going to find a cheap console unless your lucky and know who to get it from. Using online stores like Ebay, amazon and etc, you will find more pricey systems than the actual stores cause you need to add tax and shipping not including whether its new or old and etc. There is so many things involved. Your not ever going to get the same price unless you go to stores like gamestop.com or ebgames(the same) or game.uk etc. So those types of stores are very bad examples. If Krunal meant online stores like gamestop and stuff than i would be surprised, but the one you listed(ebay) and amazon you would be lucky or know the connections to even get the same price system. Buying stuff online is risky, let alone those two places.
