Assassin's Creed problems on PS3

tidus04 | November 18, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
With the varied scores that have been hitting Assassin's Creed recently for both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 you would have though it could not get any worse. Well, it is now said that the Playstation 3 version of the game is experiencing multiple problems with the title.

These problems the game is facing are graphical glitches, clipping problems and system crashes. Though, Sony and Ubisoft have claimed that the reason for this is because of the new firmware update and will sorted as soon as possible with the 2.01 version.
Assassin's Creed is getting very varied scores at this moment, going from a nice 9 to a 6 or 7. Biggest disadvantage or point of discussion seems to be the repetitive game play.

However, the PS3 version is dealing with some additional problems like graphical glitches, clipping problems and system crashes where restarting is the only possibility.

Sony and Ubisoft have stated this is probably a result of the new firmware update. There are searching for a solution. Everything should be solved with the 2.01 version that's coming soon.

Good job I'm not getting the game till Christmas ^^ My friends have the PS3 version and they haven't had any freezing problem, so its not happening to everyone with a PS3.

I've heard the same sort of thing is happening on the 360 version as well ...

Yeah, it freezes for the 360 too. Check the forums. I'm not sure about the clipping and glitches though.

I hate how the PS3 always gets singled out. It's happening on the 360 just as bad. Will Microsoft be releasing an update to fix the problem within the next few days? No, I didn't think so.

I had it happen once on the 360 and one other person in the 360 AC forum had it happen. I don't think it's "as bad on the 360", but I read it is a simple fix for the PS3. Sign out of the PSN, problem solved.

I think it's just as bad as the 360, it's not happening to everyone on the PS3 and it's not happening to everyone on the 360 and I have seen plenty of other websites, namely Digg.com, with people complaining about just as frequent freezing on the 360.

I don't know if it is as much of getting singled out because this has only been mentioned to the public because both Sony and Ubisoftannouncing it about there console. If Microsoft got of there lazy ass and done the same im sure it would be the same vice versa.

But yeh, Ps3 is taking a bit more stick then the 360.

The singling out sucks, the actual patching isn't the responsibility of Sony or MS so I do not see why people are riding either console.

"OMG MS/SONY DIDN'T FIX IT YET ZOMGOMGOZMZOGMOG" and yet. it's not their title. Ubi needs to address it, not them.

For those who had tried playing the title in the earlier stages, the game was clip madness, so it's not that new to see it still happening in either version since it means the source code for it was bugged to begin with.

It's not like the PS3 version has absurd amounts of clipping because of the Cell or RSX, it's a problem on the developer side of things. The PR front right now is lame because Sony shouldn't try to claim that firmware ended up causing pre-determined clipping boxes to fail.

microsoft may as well, they dont release updates for such reasons as this in one collective pack. up dates for individual games are released as needed or when wanted by the developer.

You would think they would sort all these issues before they released the game!!

The issues where probably sorted out before the game was released. And probably update 2,0 caused problems and ubisoft didn't have to time to fix as they never saw the problems coming.

I've only had one problem with the game. I've gotten stuck in a wall once. And it was probably my fault for trying to do some crazy shit. After that I beat the game without issue.

    I play on 360

So the game works for me just fine. I'm inclined to think it's pretty isolated. On the PS3 if they feel the need to announce that they're going to fix it soon.

Yeah, not too great this but was always going to wait for it. Not top of my game prioity list and i'll wait for reviews and things.

Looked pretty good but this has put me off atleast until it's sorted out.
