Microsoft has just announced the Halo 3 Heroic map pack. It will include 3 maps; Standoff, Rat's Nest, and Foundry, and will be released December 11th for 800 Microsoft points.

Available for 800 Microsoft Points exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, each map presents a totally different play style.

The symmetrical valley of Standoff, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types.
The vast, labyrinthine passages of the Rat's Nest bring something completely new to the multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise. Strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, this map is ideal for big team battles.
Foundry is the ultimate Forge map. Players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, placing stairways, walls, bridges, and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map imaginable.

All three maps will become available for free download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of new Halo 3 multiplayer maps.

I do like the sound of Foundry, but I wonder whether it's worth waiting until 2008 or purchasing the pack next month.

Interesting, I may buy them if I actually get back into Halo 3. But that's unlikely to happen before they become free, so I'll just wait and see.

Is it normal for maps to be 800MS pts or is it just because of Halo they thought they would raise the stakes?

I thought extra maps cost money not points. Im not sure if it is normal and i think its halo and they want you to spend your points.
like i said if i had halo i would wait. Its a waste of points to be honest.

I'll play them at a friends house before I go one way or the other, as 800 points seems pretty steep for only 3 maps.

I hate the way developers hold back maps from the initial copy then release them later for extra $$

random_gamer, which one of your friends would be dumb enough to buy them first so you can try it out?

Stop being a fool. Whats random gamer is saying instead of him shelling out his money for them, his friends most likely will and then when he meets them, then he can see how the maps are and stuff.

Its called Playing online, its not stupid for his friends to buy them. Think before you speak.
Its the same as games, if your unsure if the game is good enough to buy and your friends has it well either borrow it or play it there. Not only can you tell if its worthy, you save money. Or in this case points.

Oooh, very interesting, but as random_player said very steep for 3 maps. My brothers have the game and I love to play with them, so maybe the maps are actually worth it?
