A certain Mr Thompson will no doubt be outraged to hear that 46% of American minors have to get their little hands on M-rated games.
While it is a ridiculously high statistic, there is no mention of how many youths have been able to buy buy movies with similar age restrictions.

A survey has found that almost 50 per cent of minors in the US have been able to buy games rated M for Mature from retailers.

The study found that of over 60 stores nationwide, 46 per cent sold M rated games to consumers under the age of 18, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The survey was carried out by the East County Youth Coalition and the National Institute on Media and Family.

The findings back-up a report from the NIMF last year, which also found that half of retailers willingly sold adult games to a young audience.

This week, US senators began to put pressure on ESRB ratings, calling for a review of the system.

Don't you only have to be 17 for an M rated game? 17 < 18 so no surprise.

Pft. I bought all of my 360 games, and whenever I want a new game, I just ask my mom to come in with me because it's usually rated M. It's no surprise that kids get to higher rated games. It's simple.

Jack Thompson can kiss my ass.

Why is it that people, specifically the government, always blame the game for being so inconsiderate about the community? It's the game stores that they need to put pressure on. No matter how much game developers adjust their games, games intended for mature guys will still be sold to young ones. It's all because of capitalism.

I've played M games since an extremely young age (killed my first Nazi at 4 in Wolfenstein 3D) and I don't consider myself worse off. I'm not surprised at this either. The parents need to buy it for them.
