Just recently Blu-Ray movies broke the one million sales barrier, and currently Blu-Ray is winning "the war" against the HD DVD in Europe. Sony is currently selling more Blu Ray DVD's than HD-DVDs by three to one, and although the war in sales between the two is still quite early things are looking good for Sony.

Sony’s disc format betters rival Toshiba’s HD-DVD sales by three-to-one.

Whist it remains too early to predict if one format will emerge victorious in the ongoing battle to capture the hi-def disc format crown, Sony’s Blu-Ray standard appears to be winning the European war, having recently broken the one million unit sales barrier.

This number represents just under 75 per cent of the total hi-def movie sales in Europe to date, putting the format in a commanding position.

Blu-ray is always on top outside of the U.S.

The PS3 is a big reason for this obviously though, if the 360 had of come with an HD dvd player as standard then I'd say HD dvds would be selling a lot better, though of course it'd have cost more then.

The fact is, they didn't, and that changes a lot of things for HD-DVD and microsoft.

And that is what strikes me as very odd. Microsoft, who claims they stand by HD-DVD to the end, didn't implement the disc format into the 360. I mean, the most the 360 would cost is $500 if HD-DVD was installed in the console--and that's not such a big stretch, compared to the PS3.

This is a great proospect to be hearing espically for the future of Blu-Ray, though I have always been one never to buy them because of the price. I hope they can lower that but knowing Sony they wont =[
