Nice to see God of War 3 getting into development. I don't mind the 2009 release date; a better game needs more time.
Bah. Oh well, gives me time to get a PS3 I guess.
It better be good. *shakes fist*
How long does it take to make the bloody game!
Some games, like sports games can be done within a year, partly because they have to (you know, for yearly roster updates), partly because the mechanics and environments don't change much, just some graphical tweaks and effects added.
But more original games, or sequels that add new areas, gameplay, storylines, and get signifigant boosts to the graphics require a lot of work, the engine needs to be updated to work with the new stuff.
Something as good looking as GoW would take longer than some games.
Epic games, like the Final Fantasy's, or the Elder Scroll's, take a similarly epic amount of time to make
Movies don't take as long, as the chars and story are (generally) fleshed out before they start, and all they have to do is have the sets and costumes built, have the characters act and read lines....post production consists of adding effects and cleaning up the picture, and editing out stuff..
