Having already secured its lead in the next-gen race, putting pay to both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii continues to be as hot now as it was at launch over a year ago. Consumers are eager to get one as Christmas approaches, but how can they do that without risking exposure, human stampede, and marked up prices. In short, they can't.

Nintendo has conceded that it simply won’t be able to meet demand, despite striving to inject the retail market with an extra 3 million units in the run-up to the busy holiday season, which duly leaves an awful lot of desperate consumers looking in every available nook and cranny in the hope of uncovering a Wii.

So, bearing that in mind, where should consumers be looking as the windows on the advent calendar gradually flip open and December 25 begins to loom large on the horizon?

It's kinda too bad for Nintendo. They could be making more sales if they could just make a Wii faster. Oh well, least I'm in no rush to get one with Brawl being delayed.

Is it just me or is this statement past sense. I mean it still is hot, saying it was means its no longer hott. Seriously that makes no sense.

      Let me explain.

'...as it was at launch...' = it was 'hot' at launch.

'...continues to be as hot now...' = it now is still as 'hot' as it was at launch.

      Simple.

Ah, people just have to accept that they should have gotten one earlier this year...hell who wouldn't know about how fast it's selling by now?

It's hard to find many items in late November/early December, though I agree, they need to try and increase their supply.

Look at eBay for some of the auctions for the Wii. Absolutely crazy: a two story house in Charlotte, NC, BMW 330i, plane tickets, and ONE Wii system. They even said that they'd even pay for the winner's family to be moved out to the location of the house. 10% of the profits go to charity.

Luckily I managed to get my Wii earlier in July, but I feel sorry for those who might not have a chance at getting one this holiday season. Judging from what I've heard, getting any major console such as Wii, 360 or PS3 is quite a feat.
