Get ready to play Chess Wii style! Wii Chess is coming to Europe on January 18! Other regions release dates are unknown as of now. It will have online capability.

Get ready for some pawn-powered pwnage after New Year's, kids. Wii Chess (working title) is slated for a January 18 release in Europe. No word yet as to when (or if) the bargain-priced chess title will make it to the States. Retailing for 30 Euros (about 45 USD), Wii Chess is setting the price bar a little lower to the delight of consumers overseas.
Aside from porting the oldest and most historic board game onto the Wii, Nintendo has included various graphical enticements to ensure we're checkmating our opponents in style. Speculation may begin regarding what Nintendo-related fare might pop up on the boards and backgrounds.
Furthermore, if you're tired of the computer breaking up your King's Indian Defense, you can always battle a human brain. Wii Chess will feature online play via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which is probably the smartest opening move.

Sweet. I'll be getting it.

...When it's ready to be bought used, anyway. I don't think I'm willing to pay a full fledge $45 for a game I can play on a couple instant messengers for free.

This sounds pretty interesting. Playing Chess on the Wii sounds very entertaining, and I can hook up with people globally to test my intellect.

I think it would be extremely unique if they were to change from basic Chess to levels with elevations and things, adding for more suspense, and making it more challenging. Somewhat like a Role Playing Game, but in Chess form.

Definitely getting this on the VC. I haven't played the game since junior high school, years ago...but win or lose, fun board game. ^^
