Sony attacking Nintendo with no less than their own opinion.

black doom | December 13, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 Wii
Howard Stringer refers to the PS3 as infinitely more fun than the Wii. To be honest that sounds doesn't sound like the arguing tactics of a professional. In fact doesn't that qualify as slander?
Sony chairman Sir Howard Stringer is, no doubt, more than relieved that PS3's fortunes appear to be turning around - PS3 outsold Wii in Japan over the month of November, the first time Sony's hardware has overturned Nintendo's position, and Stringer is "much more confident" about PS3's future.

Meanwhile, Stringer is bullish in the face of Nintendo's wider appeal, stressing that "PlayStation 3 will come into its own because its [high-end games] are infinitely more fun, demanding and exciting" in comparison to Wii's offerings.

Nintendo's struggle to supply enough consoles to meet the demand is also keeping Stringer warm at night.

In Tokyo yesterday, as reported in UK newspaper The Guardian, he informed attendees at a Sony press conference that he is "happy the Wii seems to be running a bit short of hardware". We don't doubt it.

Urh ... Of course they think the PS3 is going to win - He's the *bleep*ing chairman !
I'm sick of these articles - It's always " Microsoft says the 360 will win and shit on all the competition " or " Wii spokesman says the PS3 is to expensive and that the Wii will win the war "
Of course they'll say these things ... Their paid too ^^

There is absolutely no way that PS3 is better than wii! PS3 is only known for it's graphics, and without them it's be the same as PS2. The wii is a fun, active game. Plus how many people would choose graphics over playing actively inside with a tv and a video game system? Not me!

I'll think you'll find that that the PS3 has a lot more to boot than just it's graphics

I may be a 360 user, but agreed. I'd rather play with a SIXAXIS over a nunchuck and Wiimote.

Go stringer! Haha. I agree with him, Wii games get incredibly boring after a while.

I think what he says is meh. Everybody is going to have their own opinion on which console is better than the other console.

No Way, as if anyone who is behind the Wii in sales would disagree or deny that there happy.

Its really up to personal interest i mean i do like the PS3 but i really can't say yes or no to this article. Nor do i care. The fact is PS3 has games i like and i will continue to play them.

@Stewie rox are you saying the 360 is shit too, since 360 to my knowledge could be considered similar to PS3 in graphics department. Like i said i will play games that i find interesting and could care less about which system is more fun to the other.

Correction, better than the PS3 in that department.

I meant similar to the PS3 in all about graphics in games.

Both are pretty much equal in graphic quality. PS3 just has slightly more detail, at least that's what I see when I compare them.

Do you read or understand my point Killah? Im not talking about who has better graphics quality, i was responding to this

My point is the same holds true for 360 and does that make the 360 shit, as he making the PS3 out to be as well. Its a blatant bash to both systems.

That's my view exactly. Last Christmas my brother had his new Wii set up and it was great fun, by February it was covered in dust never to be used again. The long term consoles are definitely the PS3 and the 360's. Still, it's no surprise that the Sony chairmen expects the PS3's to do better than Nintendo, he's the chairman for crying out loud.

    End of story.

This is nothing more than a PS fanboy baiting GameGrep article by a Nintendo fanboy himself.

I well not deny that Nintendo is by far my favorite but I don't have anything against Microsoft.

However, just for you to note, the baiting part is true. I even went up a few level.

I have a 360 and a Wii, and I love both of them. Wii is more fun for casual games and the great Nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros.), but I get games that are available for both systems on the 360. It usually has better graphics, and they don't try to force the controller into the gameplay. When done right, the Wii is great fun, but when a game feels like it's making you do motions with the remote just for the sake of doing something with the remote, I don't like it.

That HARDLY qualifies as slander. I'm actually holding in a laugh just thinking of the assumption. Would you expect him to say, "The Wii is infinitely more fun than the PS3. Its no wonder its selling so much more!" Sometimes I wonder if people even use their heads.

This is no news story. Sony's attacking no one and Stringer's just doing what any another company head does.

Thanks iLL and Seeker for actually saying something smart amongst this sea of stupid comments.

Wii is fun. But I'd honestly rather play with a six axis controller then swing my arm around very effectively making myself look like a moron.

The Wii's more entertaining, though. Who gives a shit how you look? You can't look any worse than that promotional woman who looked like she was giving the WiiMote, err, pleasure.

Sure, but it also makes me feel like a moron.

Especially when I do some crazy swing maneuver and nothing happens on screen.(which is actually fairly often specially with things like red steel and boxing)

Those early glitches haven't happened to me in any recent game. But I just get so much into it I don't notice the gestures. The weird part is the feeling of merging with the control I used to get has been bypassed, I now feel like I am one with the screen.
