While rumours circulate that major retailers are sitting on Wii units, local GameStop outlets are being hit be thieves looking to cash in on the Christmas surge.

While the likes of Circuit City, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart might be deemed ‘too big a fish’ for regional black-hearted reprobates, the local GameStop appears to be a glowing target when it comes to illegally cashing in on the seasonal Christmas surge traditionally experienced in the videogame industry.

Why would they even post that here? What if robbers are here now? Do they want to be robbed?

There were two guys last week that stole an 80 GB PS3 and a load of games from a game store here. No one knows what a "job" is.

LOL this is there job but i guess they need to find a new hobby. Gamestop needs to hire security guards and shit like this won't happen.

For some reason, I'm not really surprised. It seemed somewhat obvious that things like this would be happening, possibly time to update their security?

I'm more worried about being mugged while in line for a Wii, really. But either way I think electronic stores need to update their security, and station one guard outside when people are camping in line.

The only thing I've noticed for security in stores is that they have security cameras, and those things that sound an alarm if you are shoplifting. What's that really going to do with a break-and-entry, if they are usually clothed in black?

the gamestop in my old neighbor hood was always shutting down because they got robbed all the time. they always had a security guard during the day. you can't constantly have someone looking over the place 24/7 though, so shit's gonna happen sooner or later.

Well there really is no way to stop a robbery from happening.

Almost bound to happen to any store.

Some dude just needs money for drugs. =/

Everyone trying to buy a Wii: if you do get one, you may want to bring a gun or bodyguard with you so that you can make it home alive.

That'll end up being a bit worse in the next weeks, parents are quite an evil bunch, I remember on black friday that there were some bitter words going between people for bundles going on sale at frys.

Gamestop locations around me have tended to use pretty low end security. Something about a giant glass door with a lock at the bottom doesn't scream absolute product safety.
