Yep, v 2.10 coming December 18TH. Two of the highly anticipated features, DivX support and Blu Ray profile 1.1. There will also be a voice changer, that can change the tone of your voice when said through a microphone.

The European Playstation website lists a new firmware update that will be released tomorrow. Version 2.10 is mostly a visual media-based update, with none of the listed features having any impact on gameplay. In other words, you can stop holding your breath - there's no in-game XMB here. Instead, we the arrival of two highly anticipated features. Blu-Ray profile 1.1 and DivX support will heavily increase the PS3's standing as a media hub.

It's about time the avi support came around. I've seriously been waiting for this since I bought the system.

Maybe I'll be able to watch more of my vids this way >_>

But what about .mkv or .ogm support? That would be awesome (dual audio, with soft subs)

I imagine it's already doable if you install YDL and find a media player through there, but I too would love to see some .mkv support in the future.

Unfortunately Xvid isn't in this update, not like i mind though but im sure some people will complain. Oh did you guys know Xvid and Divx are spelled backwards to each other. I didn't really notice it until someone mentioned it on another site

Definitely downloading this update. Just one question: whats the deal with the lack of .gif support in the PSP and PS3?
