Square Enix Announces Release Dates for Ring of Fates, The World Ends With You

Akira_EX | December 17, 2007 | News | DS
Square Enix today has announced release dates for two of their DS games, along with another game. The two DS games?

The first game is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, with a hard release date of March 11, 2008 for the US.

The second game is The World Ends With You (Subarashiki Kono Sekai, It's A Wonderful World), with a more hazy "Spring 2008".

The games without dates announced though? Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Dragon Quest IV.
Square Enix unveiled its release strategy for early 2008 today, keeping its games on our minds and reminding us to plan our spring budgets accordingly. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, the four-player co-op ARPG, ships out to North American stores on March 11, 2008, almost seven months since its debut in Japan. With that long of a delay, we're hoping for some added content with the US release (e.g. online features with more depth than moogle-trading).

As for The World Ends With You (a.k.a. It's a Wonderful World, Subarashiki Kono Sekai), Square Enix plans to bring the stylized romp through Tokyo's Akihabara district stateside around "spring 2008." You can check out screenshots and artwork for both games in the galleries we've dropped below. Still missing from Square Enix's schedule: Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, Dragon Quest IV, and Dragon Quest IX.

I'd rather the title, 'It's a Wonderful World.' That game has gotten my attention after some screens and details, Neck/Neku, haha.

The new CC looks decent, but I'm more drawn to the more 'original' game, TWEWY.

They can't call it 'It's a Wonderful World' due to copyright issues.

Copyright issues? Like what? The same guys made Kingdom Hearts...and they kept it as Kingdom Hearts. Square Enix never changed their titles names just because of imports from what I remember.

Still, all I said was that I'd rather the the title IAWW than TWEWY.

Issues with other existing trademarks and copyrights in other regions will force the renaming of certain games for those regions. It's like Detective Conan/Case Closed a few years back.

Just because you have the name in one region doesn't mean you have it in another.

I'm very excited that The World Ends With You was officially announced for the US. The game looks to be brilliant, and I was really hoping it wouldn't end up as a Japan exclusive.
