Ten Worst Loading Screen Cover-ups

StarJet | December 20, 2007 | News | Misc
Do you know a gamer who doesn't hate loading screens? Well, here are some instances where game developers thought they were smart. They actually thought that they could fool gamers!
#5 Metroid Prime 3's Slow-Opening Doors At first we weren't sure about this one. It seemed like Metroid Prime was glitching. Did the developers forget that when you shoot a door it should open? Eventually we realized that the delay between shooting a door and it opening was, in fact, an improvised loading screen that would have you standing idly by for up to five secods. This occasional, yet unbearable wait became even worse if you were trying to escape an enemy-filled room rather than just running about in a fit of exploration.

Haha, I was almost going to complain that Resident Evil wasn't on the list ... but then I read the second page. XD.
The RE doors are definitely one of the most frustrating Loading screens, imo.

I liked the mass effect elevators.
its funny to hear what your teamates say. They have different conversations depending on how far your in the game and what people are in your team.

Mass Effect's elevators wouldn't have been so annoying if there weren't so many of them.

It took me a few times before I realized that was what was happening in Assassin's Creed. I couldn't figure out why everything kept fading away.......LMAO

Haha, what's wrong with the elevators. It wasn't that big a deal, and like slumpy mentioned, I quite liked the conversation and announcements they offered to pass the time.

    Assassin's Creed's loading wasn't half-bad, either...I've seen much worse.

The Assassin's Creed loading screen isn't so bad. At least you can still move around, although aimlessly.

IDK i don't mind the loading screens as much. I like the Street fighter one pretty cool. Te only time i do mind it is if it froze on the loading screen.

The Mass Effect elevators can get annoying at times, but your squad members lighten the mood sometimes. Put Wrex in an elevator with your squad members and you'll hear some funny shit.

Plus, you can get some quest updates standing just by staying in an elevators. That's always helpful.

I never even thought of the elevators as being annoying until somebody else brought it up. Seriously.
