Xbox 360 vs PS3 :: The battle for Europe 2008

Supernouva | December 20, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
Europe seems to be the battle site for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3 in 2008. The Xbox 360 has acquired quite a number of titles over the past few months, from Halo 3 to Mass Effect, and several other hot titles. The Playstation 3 is slowly but surely climbing up the gaming ladder with hot new exclusives such as Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, and Metal Gear Solid 4 set for 2008 releases. What's coming up in 2008 for Xbox 360? Halo Wars? Only time will tell.
According to Jeff Bell, the head of global marketing for Microsoft's games business,Europe is set to be the key battleground in 2008 as Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3 go head to head in a bid to grab a decent chunk of a business that is now globally worth a reported $30 billion.

Microsoft has enjoyed their best year yet in terms of game sales, with the likes of Bioshock, Forza Motorsport 2, Mass Effect and Halo 3 flying off the shelves and spurring on sales of the Xbox 360. Sony on the other hand has suffered a rollercoaster ride of a year with a difficult start to the PS3 launch, thanks in no small part to the ridiculous price point and an initial range of fairly average games, but business is now significantly picking up for them and they've got a fair few eye-catching games coming up in the new year, including the exclusive Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. What do Microsoft have up their sleeves in 2008? Halo Wars? They've been pretty quiet so far on their 2008 line-up. It's going to be a very interesting new year.

Yeah, I'd have to wonder what MS has hidden for 2008. It would have to be something good, because the PS3 has been pretty popular in the UK.

MGS4, Killzone 2 and GT5 aren't the only decent PS3 games coming out in 08. Though they are right; up until now gthe PS3 hasn't had one single hit exclusive. They've either been acceptable or just terrible, as compared to the 360's huge pocket of smash-hit exclusives.

If everyone is going to go into a rant now, then I'll just leave it at this ...
... I hardly think that 3 decent games count as a " huge pocket of smash-hit exclusives "...

Did you seriously just say the 360 only has 3 decent exclusives?

Also lets not forget, Sony has some secrets them selves for 08. I mean what about those 1st party or 2 party games getting overshadowed by the PS3 most anticipated games for 08. Just don't think those are all the games for PS3 2008.

But no doubt 360 has some secrets too like NG2, Its going to be a good year for both companies next year. One that im looking forward too

Yeah, if anyone has learned anything about PS3 first party titles, it's that they aren't very popular.

Problem is (from my experience anyway) Sony will most likely still win in Europe. Which I think is ridiculous considering the main reason most of my friends are getting PS3's is 'cause they already have a ton of PS2 games. Most don't know the 40GB (the only version that's still being made in Europe) has no BC.
Sony need to hurry up and release the 80GB in Europe and Australia.

The only thing that bothers me about having all of these battles is my bank account takes a big hit of all the great games I gotta buy!!! Which in the end is a GREAT thing!!! LOL

Well let's see, Xbox 360 is a Microsoft product and the PS3 is a Sony product. Do I need to spell it out? This is business, big companies like Microsoft and Sony aren't gonna get along, unless one buys the other.

If your still believing that crap about MGS4 being on the 360 than your a sad sad person.
Its a rumor and only xbox fanboys bring that garbage in here when it was shot down 6 times already by Kojima himself. And what he says goes.
