With reports of violent videogame-related incidents picking up pace in recent times, are videogames really to blame or is the media merely highlighting tenuous aspects for the sake of blatant sensationalism?

Journalists bashing videogames and gaming for the sake of sensationalist press is becoming a worrying trend that must be thrilling the world’s anti-videogame activists as they look to tie gaming to the behaviour of dangerously imbalanced sociopaths.

Of course its the media. They like to stir shit up so people can talk about it and give them notice. Its no different to what Jack Thompson does with games, he wants to be in the spotlight. He likes the attention.

I dislike the media they're always up your grill.

I agree, people have always been committing messed up violent crimes, its not a new thing. Its just that videogames are now being used as a scapegoat, rather than looking at the real issue - which is that the people committing these crimes are simply messed up in the head.

Notice whenever there is a article claiming weren't the cause of something or that video games are healthy it never breaches the News. But if someone is blaming something on video games or a new study claims video games are unhealthy it appears on every channel

I could write a two paragraph leaflet on the evils of gaming and release it online and it would make the news.

I am a hardcore gamer, my younger brother hardly plays video games, I am non-violent unless really annoyed, he has an extremely short temper and hits people for accidentally stepping on his toe etc.
