Nintendo has it, and so does Sony, so perhaps it's only natural for Microsoft to follow the trend to incorporate motion-sensing into its Xbox 360 controller - if current rumours to that effect are true.

The add-on, which will apparently be compatible with existing 360 controllers, will officially bring Microsoft to the motion-control arena, with current Net chatter suggesting that Gyration’s technology will be available before the close of 2008.

It's about time they jumped on the motion-sensing bandwagon, that is if the rumors are true of course.

It makes sense if not only to have some form of equality game wise, right now the PS3 versions of all multiplatform games have more features because of motion, i'm sure that probably pisses Microsoft off.

Not really, some multiplatform doesn't even have motion. Besides Most of their games are better than PS3 so i think there pretty happy actually

Yeah so happy that they want a motion controller...

But why would MS want to implement this feature now. They have done fine without it tbh. I just don't see how they are pissed about not having it. They have rumble and i think there happy. Unless they see Sony's games taking off in a bang Cause of motion control i don't think MS will do this. There is only a few selective games out there that uses it well. And some of them don't use it well, IE lair is one of them.

Meh, I LOVED Lair's usage of motion controls. Read my Lair review and you'll see why they don't seem to work well.

I'm not a big fan of motion senser controllers but I can see why MS would want to include it.

True that. They probably want to appeal to other developers.

Why wouldn't they want to have motion sensitivity? And besides, if the rumors are true, and it's an add-on, you have two great features in one controller: rumble vibrations and motion sensitivity.

Why am I seeing this headline in the PS3 forum?

People seem to be putting specific console news in both forums all the time these days.

Anyway, as for the controllers, I hope they don't make them. I hate motion sensing control. I just hope it will be totally optional.

I like the motion in most PS3 games, but check a forum and most people hate it. I don't see many people buying a motion sensing add on for their controller anyway. No install base, no developer support.

Developers are lazy, which is why the Wii is the only one with strong motion games that are really any good, and that is because the console effectively requires the developers expand themselves.

It is hard to give them a reason to do it on other consoles.

There are some games where motion-sensors are just terrible...so yeah, as much as it would help Microsoft to compete with their motion-sensor opponents, I see this doing more harm than good. Why don't they just make a gun controller for the 360 if they haven't already?

      Exactly my point storm thanks.

I like the idea of the 360 having a motion-sensor controller but the Wii will always be best for motion-sensing.

For a console that's been selling so well, Microsoft has been doing a whole lot of follow the leader and backtracking on their words with the 360.

black doom, the difference is the games on the Wii are built around the controller, whereas motion sensing on the PS3 is just another feature. There are no games where you only play with motion because thats not what the PS3 is about, so to say developers are lazy is ridiculous.

Opposed to a console not selling well, yet still playing follow the leader?

Oh god, does this mean we are gonna start seeing games with frustrating/broken controls on the 360 like Lair?

Please no, Microsoft. Think of the gamers.

Lair didn't have a broken control scheme. I know for a fact that I had no issues with it, Volacide had none, and many others had zero issues with it. I explained why in my review of the game. If you steer smoothly, it'll work fine. If you're jerky with the controller, it won't work fine.

Isn't that for any game really that uses it. I guess thats why people rated the Lair motion controls down cause they never steered it clearly. Hell i even did that in Heavenly Sword i accidentally jerked it too much and it didn't turn out so well.

But I think devs needs to use the mtopn controls more on the PS3. Not all multiplayer games have the tilt axis feature on the PS3 version.

        There's no bias there.

How is that Bias? He's just stating what he and Volacide experienced. Seriously do you know what Bias means?

Anybody that hasn't played Lair should take their unfounded criticism and shove them up their asses, thank you and have a good one.

          "There's no bias there."

Hahaha! That's funny. Like the PS3's motion sensing controls I'm sure most games will be optional use. MS might create a flOw like game but you know going in that it is motion sensing.

Leave the motion sensing games to the Wii! On the XBOX360, I'd rather stick to pressing buttons.

    Dai Dec 29, 07
Gotta agree with Dragonnite. The consoles should stick to their strengths instead of trying to steal features from each other. After all, its pretty unlikely a lot of 360 fans will snatch up the add-on. I imagine most buy a 360 to avoid motion-sensing. Heh...

    MusiKon Dec 29, 07
Wasn't it Microsoft who said motion controls are stupid and won't plan to add something like this? Or were they just throwing a hissy fit because motion controls failed when they put it in one of their PC Sidewinder controllers?

      iLLmatic Dec 30, 07
Motion sensing, HDMI, native 1080p, large hard drive, HD movie player, etc. They said all of these things were a waste and unnecessary for the consumer, which is exactly why I said above that for a console that has been selling well, they have been backtracking on much of their words.

Oh? And I though MS hated Nintendo's "silly gimmick"? >
