Following in the footsteps of the Halo FPS trilogy is a difficult path to tread, but Ensemble Studios believes (and wants you to believe too) that real-time strategy title Halo Wars is going to be one of 2008's biggest releases.

"I think we’ve got magic in the disc," enthused lead designer Graeme Devine. "We've worked on the controls, gameplay, and story for this game being very much aware of what has gone before us. I was down in playtest yesterday and actually did not get to sit down and play because folks were spending their lunches playing the game. I know we're doing well when that happens."

I can't imagine the average "console shooter tard" playing a RTS for too long myself.

My thoughts exactly Miller, the stereotypical FPS player isn't exactly one for long term battles and stratagy commitment. Honestly I don't really see this being a success for it's game play, only for its name.

Plus, the nich for sci-fi RTS is already taken and will be retaken next year: Starcraft. Yes, it's a bold move to try to have a successful RTS on a console... but from what I'm seeing that's all it is. Too much emphasis on it trying to be Halo. One video had the guy going on for a while about how the warthogs "feels" like an actual one.... It slides all the time, we get the point.
