He's clearly one of the most popular presidential candidates on the Internet and it shows. Now, his popularity's about to jump even more. Supporters are organizing a rally on World of Warcraft on New Year's Day.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul's internet regiment has come to World of Warcraft-- a group of his supporters are planning to form a guild on Whisperwind and do a march from IF to Stormwind (which means they'll probably be Gnomes or Dwarves, which is too bad, because I liked the idea of "Trolls for Ron Paul") on New Year's Day at 8:30pm EST.

I think this is a cheap trick to engage lazy, single-minded people to vote for a weird, pedo-licious old guy.

Wow, it's true. Add politics to anything and controversy ensues. Ron Paul had nothing to do with the planning of this, it was done by supporters. Don't think less of somebody based on what their fans do.

It had to happen at some point though. There are a lot of people who play MMOs, and if this works I'd expect a lot more of them from everyone. Not sure that it will, as online there is nothing stopping a small group of people from ruining the event. Which will very likely happen.
