Despite being denied by the developers on several occasions, a young site is reporting that a distribution representative from Konami has confirmed that the PS3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 will indeed be coming to Xbox 360 too. Apparently it's been in development for about a year and will be released 12-14 months after the PlayStation3 version.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the Xbox 360. This is not a rumor. This is straight from a Konami distribution representative’s mouth. The game is already in production and has been since early 2007. Complete details after the jump:

No, the rep will not be named, but this is pretty concrete. Speaking to a Konami rep at an undisclosed distribution meeting, I was told, after a lot of nagging, that yes indeed MGS was in development for the 360. The rep stated that Metal Gear Solid will be released for the Xbox 360 between 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version hits shelves. This is not a rumor.

I contacted Microsoft’s own John Porcaro via email shortly after I spoke to the Konami rep to see if I could get anything from Microsoft’s public relations team. Below is the response I received. Needless to say it’s the most I’ve ever gotten out of MS PR team member.

They really act is though this is pure fact, and honestly, I don't see this happening. Hell, Kojima could go through all the trouble of adding a PS3 controller to Snake's hand in that gameplay footage...and for what? To come back and practically smack Sony in the face by switching that controller to a 360 one?

And that's just a minor issue. I'm not even sure that it will fit for the 360, being on Blu-Ray and all.

Well, the more gamers that can taste the delight that is Metal Gear, the better, I say. Platform-exclusivity never flew with me, I am a Sony loyalist but I would have loved to see a Halo port. Things like that make me approve the move if it were true, but a year-long delay over the PS3 could really water down the impact, even if the port were to have extra features.

Then again, this could be false. Key word: "Young site". Young sites need traffic, and hence why you've got headline-making news, even if it isn't always true.

It wouldn't be worth it. If this was true, by the time this game came out for X360 all the attention would have shifted to other new titles.

My point being, if you want this game, get a PS3 if you don't have one yet.

      It wouldn't be worth it?

Odd statement, given development costs to create it, you think they'd want to maximize their revenue. On top of that prior exclusivity never stopped people on the Xbox from buying later PS2 ports.

So historically, your statement has already been proven otherwise by consumers. Not everyone owns a PS3 and Xbox 360, as such you're not dealing with a crowd that will go "whatever already got it on my PS3" they'll buy it because they wanted it and thought they weren't going to get it.

If shelf exposure was a factor Kojima would have never went with the Twin Snakes on the Gamecube because honestly if we're dealing with "it's old no one would get it" then it doesn't get much older than that for rebirths on other consoles for MGS.

As far as the credibility of this item goes, who knows, it's an ongoing ghost story that has spanned for quite a while now. Every now and again we get new life to it with an "un-named source" that says don't worry it's coming.

    I agree with Supernouva.

This isn't going to sell easily if it's out that long after the PS3 version, Xbox are sure to have many other titles gamers are willing to buy by that time.

His point is ridiculous. As a 360 owner and huge Metal Gear fan without a PS3, there's no chance in hell I'd buy a console for a game that would eventually come out for the 360. Months, even a year later wouldn't matter at all. Who would spend hundreds of dollars to play a single game a little earlier on one console? Sounds like the biggest waste of money I've ever heard of. It's insane logic by someone desperately trying to lessen the effects of MGS4 coming to the 360.

But still, it won't be on the 360, haha. So it doesn't matter how pointlessly upset some people would be if it were true, or how strongly Cruxis would clasp his ears with his hands and yell 'LALALALA'. I'd LOVE if it were true, I really would, but this is the first Metal Gear Solid game I won't be playing the second it's released. I'm bummed out, but hey, I chose the 360 and I won't let a single game make me go crazy. I'll just have to find someone with a PS3 and buy the game FOR them, as long as they'll let me play through it once.

Believe it or not, people do in fact do this. How many bought the 360 JUST for Halo 3 I wonder? But after they get the console and the game they always wanted, they'd either sell the console or find other games that'll peak their interest for it and build a collection from there.

Hell, I really only bought the GameCube because of Super Smash Bros. Melee, but then I got into other games like Mario Party, Metroid Prime, etc.. That and I am a huge Nintendo fan.

That's completely different. You're explaining someone buying a console for an exclusive and then building a collection from there. Which no doubt happens.

We're talking about, hypothetically, someone buying a console for a TIMED exclusive. Halo 3 isn't coming out on the PS3 in a year, so there aren't any PS3 fans buying a 360 just to play Halo 3 earlier. You bought a GameCube for an exclusive, not a timed exclusive.

If someone did have BOTH a 360 and a PS3, yeah, they'll buy MGS4 for the PS3. In that situation timed exclusivity (is that even a word? I don't know) does matter. But if you just have a 360, why in the hell would you pay $460+ just to play MGS4 earlier?

Yeah I was seriously considering buying a PS3 myself if I knew this game is going to be a definite and permanent exclusive to it. I certainly hope it's true. It would save me $300+!

I'm with Dragonite. It's really the only reason I'd buy a PS3. Since I have a 360 I wouldn't get much out of a PS3. Since I already own all the good cross platform stuff. I can live without God of War and Final Fantasy. But I don't wanna miss out on MGS so GoW and FF would just go to the equation to make it worth my purchase. However, if this comes to 360 I wouldn't have to buy a PS3 as soon. I could hold off longer. Wait for price drops of models with backwords compatiblity, large hard drive, and 4 usb.

Oh I see, I misunderstood is all. You're right LordMaChao, that would be a stupid thing to do (although there are those who are that desperate to play this game). Besides, people have been waiting for MGS4 for quite some years now, what an extra year more if it'll save them $500, and not to mention some extra features...but that again leads to if, and this is a big if, it will go to the 360.

I really doubt this is true. This rumour has been firmly put to death by the man himself. And I really doubt they could have kept this secret for 12 months

    Final Blade Jan 2, 08
Haha once again people like to make BS. First off in another article has stated its going to be out in June. And Sony has stated it will reach its mark before the end of its fiscal year. Now add a few more months and giving that some of the best PS3 titles coming out before MGS4. I see this making sales for the PS3, even if(some wild miracle) this turns out to be a timed exclusive. People like MGS and will buy it for PS3 regardless. Why, its cause this is meant to be a PS3 game, 50GB worth and not just that, Six Axis, and branded as a console seller. Hell im getting 360 before NG2, but im not getting the game for 360 cause its meant to be played on the PS3.

I also remember a video about DMC4, an interview that DMC4 supposedly plays better on the PS3, and shows that this game was meant to be a PS3 game. Whether this is true i have yet to know, considering 1up did the interview, but if in fact it comes to pass, it would support my statement here about MGS4.

But Can someone edit this and put rumor on it cause its not exactly official. And Kojima has stated this 7 times its a PS3 exclusive.

Yes it is a rumor, that has been shot down from the man 7 times. And this new site has no proof. I can make up claims as well. Doesn't mean it true

You say that, yet I've seen you post just as ridiculous rumors about BioShock going to the PS3. What, is this a little more personal or something?

LordMaChao Um no i found news about it and submitted it as news and was labeled as Rumors. I knew it wasn't going to the PS3. So once again you prove how little you know.
