Nintendo already views Wii bundles via furrowed brows, but what will it make of the $700 USD Wii bundle on offer at Toys "R" Us? Gaming site Ripten is certainly no fan, labelling the retailer as guilty of corporate greed.

Slamming Toys "R" Us for rising "above and beyond the call of corporate greed," Ripten writer Chad Lakkis accuses the retailer of attempting to take advantage of the current sway of consumer interest generated by overwhelming seasonal demand for the Nintendo Wii.

The only bundle I've ever felt was an excellent deal was the original NES packaged with Mario Bros/Duckhunt. Man that was a steal back in the day!! Now retailers just hope that consumers are too blind and rely on their inability to perform basic math to figure out their "deals" aren't deals at all.

Sorry, but if that's considered a bad deal in America, they should try buying consoles in the UK.

£375 for a Wii and 10 games? You'd be lucky to find a Wii and 5 games for that price.

It's a good deal, but don't let the amount of games fool you. Just about all of them suck. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is terrible, Transformers is average especially on the Wii...terrible, SoulCalibur Legends got 3's and 4's out of 10...Bee Movie, pretty average.

Zack and Wiki pretty much make up for all the other crap up there though.

Then buy a wii and that, don't spend an extra 400$ or so on games that play like they fell out of someones ass...

The price that new games are selling for on eBay UK is ridiculous.
If they're still in the wrapper most go for over the retail price.

I saw a new copy of Wii Sports going for over £40 with an hour left.

Keep the good ones, sell the naff ones.

There's also no point of that because I added all of those games and Wii together and the total price was $750 So you're not really saving money becausse with tax it's just like $750. Except for $750 it'd probably be $800 so you're really only saving like $50 what a rip-off.

I agree with Lakkis saying that they are trying to "get rid of stuff that isn’t selling." As Storm said, most of the games in the bundle have been getting pretty average reviews (with the exception of Zack and Wiki). It seems like quantity over quality here.

And does the Wii bundle only come with the ten games? No Wiimote or Nunchuck? That means people still have to fork out another $70 (Aus money - I have no idea how much they cost in the US) for the actual controller as well.

You get a Wiimote and Nunchuck with console.

It isn't corporate greed, it's how business is done in America, trying to screw over the consumer. Anyone with half a brain can tell the games aren't the best of the crop. Doing basic math for those who know a little something about gaming: $250 for the Wii, retail which is the only price I'd ever pay for one, plus figuring 50 bucks a game, reasonable I think even though some are retailing for 60...you get 750? Save 50 bucks? All in all, a horrible deal, because most of us can't shell out 700 bucks in one go like that.

Hmm... My bundle wasn't bad... Wii console + Wii sports & Need For Speed prostreet.. (and wiimote and nunchuk obviously) I asked to trade prostreet for twilight princess when I bought it and they agreed.. It cost around about $390 Aus.

Ha, I told my friend that was a bad deal. It doesn't surprise me though that stores are trying to rip you off with stuff like this.

    StewieRox Jan 3, 08
Bri that's what I said that it's a rip off you only save $50 as if you bought all of those seperate.

I would rather spend the extra $50 and get games that I actually want. Bundles that huge just don't work.

Well, they're not really being greedy, they're just trying to make as much money as possible. I know it looks bad because who the hell wants that many games in a bundle, but still I bet you more then enough people have bought the bundle, and in turn Toys R Us is making money =].
