The Core Xbox 360, the 30GB PS3, the 20GB Premium Xbox 360, the 60GB and 80GB PS3, the 120GB Elite Xbox 360... and now the 320GB Ultimate Xbox 360 with a built-in HD-DVD player. Will Microsoft's rumoured console beast deal a death blow to Sony?
Not content with the Core, Premium, and Elite models, Microsoft is apparently preparing the autumnal introduction of its Ultimate edition, a 320GB behemoth that comes equipped with 1080p HDMI, onboard Wi-Fi connectivity, HD audio output, cool-running 65nm hardware, a near silent fan, IPTV compatibility, and an onboard HD-DVD player.

I wonder what price point such a system, if announced, would retail at. Could this replace the Elite?
the core is no more(lol)^^^ the lowest you can get now is arcade isnt it.
It isn't confirmed by Microsoft, so it's just speculations at the moment although it does sound pretty damn good. They should leave this though, and maybe do little updates to the current versions.
It could just be in their to watch HD-dvds
I honestly wonder how much it will be, and will be gobsmacked if it's less than £400.
They can't go to HD-DVD now, because there would be so many with standard DVD drive based X-box systems (and I doubt many really have the HD-DVD attachment, and even if they do, it is USB based, data bandwidth limitation would be troublesome)....
This woul be a 'niche' system, appeaing only to those that 'NEED' to have the best of the best X-box >_>
Wouldn't sell THAT well, I bet...not even as good as the Elite, I would imagine (so late in the game, and probably very expensive)....
Seen Mass Effect? Seen Gears of War?
DVD9 is fine for now.
More space =/= better games.
WOW is that even official?
h dvd is dying why support a dead format.
I think I'll just buy the updated Premium, or possibly the Elite.
When tivo like functions are introduced to Live in the future, 320gb of storage would kick ass. Plenty of people would use it. Obviously, it's pointless to people who wouldn't benefit from it, but spending $500+ for something you get little use from is stupid anyways.
Oh, wait...
This doesn't benefit anyone. I mean its like all the core users, and how they were saying they were getting rid of the core system all together. That would not only piss off some 360 gamers but the core users as well. Bringing this into the game now with HD-DVD functionality, is just going to piss off 12 million 360 users and MS will lose sales and consumer/fan respect. Its like What Smoke said.
So i really don't think MS will do this cause it makes no sense.
The PS3 different models aren't the same as this one. Since they are practically the same without less space and minor things like USB ports and Memory duo slots, which most PS3 users don't use anyway. Even i find my self not using all of them. The lack of BC in the 40GB is the only small issue, but doesn't affect next gen gaming.
A move like this will affect next gen gaming for MS and fans, Considering the amount of money the console is going to be, its going to be more than PS3 and with that comes less sales, so i don't expect this to happen, probably won't since its a rumor.
