No More Heroes Moved Up to a US Release Date of January 22

Akira_EX | January 04, 2008 | News | Wii
So, with apparently a pretty meager Wii lineup in January, most people were content with not spending money until Super Smash Bros. Brawl hits February 10.

Well, not anymore.

Ubisoft has confirmed to IGN that No More Heroes has been moved up from its sure-death release date of sometime-around-February-10 to a more palatable and survivable January 22nd. Meaning, we get this hotly anticipated Suda 51 action game in three weeks.

And I thought I could coast to February.
Publisher Ubisoft previously had its potential cult-hit action game, No More Heroes, set for a February release, right up against a little fighter called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Not the best decision, but thankfully the company seems to have reconsidered and fans of offerings like Killer 7 are the benefactors of the decision.

Ubisoft confirmed to IGN Wii this afternoon that No More Heroes has officially been moved up for a January 22 release date -- less than three weeks from now, if you're counting.

In No More Heroes, you play as Travis Touchdown, a man on a quest to become the world's number-one assassin. Using the Wii remote, you will wield his trusty killing saber and slice and dice opponents in bloody displays on your way to the top. The title's unique blend of cel-shaded visuals and ultra-violent play mechanics have made it something of a fan-favorite going into the New Year. And it doesn't hurt that it was directed by Suda 51 of Killer 7 fame.

IGN Wii will have much more on the game in the coming weeks -- as we, you know, return from vacation. Stay tuned.

Great. Pitting a niche title like this against Brawl would have killed any sales this game would have gotten. This is an interesting game, and the unique style and mechanics seem to be worth the buy, so I'm planning to purchase it. Since I'll have nearly three weeks to play this game before Brawl comes out, I should be able to appreciate the playthrough because, honestly, I'm probably not going to leave the house very much after Super Smash Bros Brawl comes out.

This is good, so it shouldn't be too long before it reaches the UK. Maybe only a few months or so. I'm looking forward to getting this.
