The moment you have all been waiting for, well PS3 owners of course. Sony has just confirmed at the CES 2008 (Consumers Electronic Show) event that the in game XMB (Xross Media Bar) is confirmed to be released later on this year. Even though we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later, it was just a matter of when. When Sony was asked for a specific date, Sony replied that it's true focus at the CES 2008 is hardware, so basically Sony shouldn't even be revealing such information, but I guess Sony was in a good mood at the time.
For people who don't know what the XMB is, it's the main PS3 menu. Many PS3 players want to access this menu while in game to either modify settings, listen to their custom music and to reply or create messages. All this can be done once the XMB is compatible to be used in game, but until then we can only pray to see this feature soon and not late 2008.
Sonys gaming division might have a small showing at this years CES, but that isnt keep Paul Purdy from dropping some big PS3 news: in-game Xross Media Bar (XMB) access is confirmed for 2008. When pressed for a specific timeframe, the Sony rep simply relayed that Sonys focus at CES is on hardware.
