Call of Duty Black Ops Voted ‘Best Game Ending’ Of All Time
19 hours 20 mins ago
1Up drops the latest Soul Calibur IV bomb by confirming that two of the most iconic Star Wars characters will be playable in Namco Bandai's forthcoming PlayStation 3 (and Xbox 360!) weapons-based brawler. Apparently Namco Bandai has made nice with LucasArts to give Darth Vader and Yoda the SCIV makeover, ready to layeth the smackdown in the age of exploration. The lightsaber-wielding, Force-totin' badasses might seem out of place in the world of Soul Calibur, but hopefully they won't be making the SC crew part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe in turn.
Now let's see if Namco Bandai is badass enough to get James Earl Jones to voice Darth Vader again, something even LucasArts can't do!

I'd still love to see Pac-Man though. Yes, I realize this would be impossible and unrealistic, I mean, he's just a dot, but oh well, this should do.
Oh well, here's hoping Yoda retains his moves from the 2nd movie.
You're all just feeling 'goody' because of characters you've enjoyed from an entirely different series. Anyone who's actually a fan of Soul Calibur would not be as thrilled with this as you are...what a joke.
Oh, and Jaw Knee, Yoda is in the 360 version, and Darth Vader's in the PS3. Never the two shall meet. Why not LucasArts just make a new 1v1 lightsaber game...
I'm a fan of the series and I like the fact that they are in it. Thats just me though, you don't have to like it if you don't want to. The fact they use glowing swords is irrelevant too, because there are lots of ridiculous weapons in Soul Calibur (big metal rings, sentient swords etc) Although I do agree Kratos would have been cooler.
Ok, let me rephrase this, the bigger fans of SC won't like this one bit. I don't, and if you trail over to the Neoseeker forums affiliated with this game, you'll find others who...that's right, don't.
This is a joke as I've said, I feel the series will certainly go downhill since their terrible SoulCalibur Legends game.
It's great if they got Jones to do Vader's voice, though. Reprise his role, heh.
What are you complaining about anyway? Link made just as much sense as Heihachi and Spawn. Not one of them had anything to do with Soul Calibur, but you say you speak the 'truth' when you state that Vader and Yoda have no place in the game. Its your opinion that they don't belong, just like its everyone else's opinion that they are cool characters.
Legends may have been a different genre and such, but as long as it carries the SC name, it will make me think less of the franchise. Come on, the game had gotten 3 and 4's, and when I played it, I regretted it. It's like FFVII's Dirge of Cerberus, or other spin-offs of different genres, it brings down out thoughts on the franchise. I wasn't completely devastated, because SC still remains to be a top game for me, though I have to admit I did like the first Soul Calibur than the others...
Best fighting game? Yes it is one of the best, great weapons-based game no doubt. I wasn't denying that at all...though Tekken takes the cake as being the best, imo.
I was just saying that Heihachi was from our time, and used his fists, no other weapon, and Spawn was also from our time, a crazy demon-like guy. But Link is different. His game's setting is from around that period, and he actually uses a medieval-type weapon, a sword...he uses a shield, bow/arrow, all eligible to me, except for the bomb, but yeah the rest worked out just fine, heh.
They are cool characters, but they just don't fit in. This is just fanservice, to get fans of Star Wars to buy the game. But as I said, if you want to see more opinions like mine, head over to the Neoseeker forum affiliated with this game.
What puzzles me is how you would think that Kratos would've been more reasonable since he's from Greek mythology...which is BEFORE SC's timeline.
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure SC never went for realism to start with.
Kratos would have been a good choice because of his ties with Ares, the God of War. Maxi from SC, along with Astaroth, have ties with him (in short, Maxi killing Astaroth, Ares' co-creation, pissed him off, and he swallowed up the ground around Maxi, nearly killing him)...thus being why Kratos would make more sense than Vader.
By the way, I apologize for overreacting about this news. I honestly wanted them to go in a different direction, but this would do well for sales and such, and Vader and Yoda are portrayed quite well from the screens.
Using the force, and lightsabers doesn't really fit in.
But you have to remember that they are just guests and not canon to the storylines at all.
And also, anything that brings more competition (more players) to the franchise is fine with me. SC isn't nearly as popular among hardcore fighting fanatics around here as other games, so it would be nice to see some fresh players.
And who knows, they may be fun to play with. n_n
I really just don't feel Star Wars characters should be hitting SC... at all. I know it's probably to attract the millions of Star Wars fans, but I guess it doesn't do it for me. =/
