Sonic Chronicles Images!

Jaw Knee | January 13, 2008 | News | Wii DS
I was browsing GoNintendo.com for any news of Sonic Chronicles, and I found some images. They gave me a link to see more of them, and I was redirected to some French website where I quickly became more excited for this game than a was before. The game looks great, and some of the background images remind me of old PC-Adventures from the late 80s and early to mid 90s. Get ready!
Nintendo Power vient de diffuser dans sa dernière édition les toutes premières images de Sonic Chronicles : The Dark Brotherhood (anciennement Sonic RPG) développé par Bioware que l'on connaît surtout pour s'être occupé de Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic ou encore Mass Effect.

Nintendo Power has just diffused in its last edition the very first images of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (in the past Sonic RPG) developed by Bioware which one knows especially to have occupied of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic or Mass Effect. The play thus seems to approach a style closer to the drawing animated Sonic while proposing engagements with the turn by turn in 3d with special blows with the Elite Beat Agents. It will be possible to compose a team of 4 on the 11 characters available whose Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Shadow or Big the Cat. Each one of these characters will have a particular ability, Tails for example will have the possibility of flying to the top of objects. With the manner of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, the play will be controlled exclusively with the stylet, moreover it will not have there random combat since all your enemies will be visible with the screen. As very good RPG one finds of course the possibility of increasing level, its competences and to acquire new attacks. Concerning the history it will be a question this time of a removal of Knuckles and emeralds but Eggman will apparently not be the principal enemy here even if he will have a role to play. The play will make you pass between the usual world of Sonic and the world obscure. It will unfortunately be necessary still to wait to have a little more information on Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood envisaged on Nintendo DS.
Thank goodness for the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I'm skeptical but then Super Mario RPG turned out to be one of the greatest RPGs of all time so we'll see.

"Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars received very good reviews, including an 8.75/10 from Electronic Gaming Monthly, and audience-made "best game of all-time" lists consistently feature the game, such as 26th on GameFAQs and 30th at IGN. Japanese audiences also received Super Mario RPG well with 1.47 million copies sold, making it the third best selling game in Japan."

The strongest point you have there is...no, I don't think you have much of a strong point ANYWHERE in there. Same can be said of Metal Gear Solid which has been in more "Best games..." lists than Super Mario RPG, plus MGS's reviews were almost unanimous with superb ratings.

And yeah...Mario and Japan? That has as much credibility as Halo has with North America.

So best RPG of ALL time? take that argument over to FFVII fans, I'd love to see that.

#1 - He never said it was the best RPG of all time, he said it's ONE of the best RPGs of all time. Reading comprehension = F.
#2 - Metal Gear Solid is not an RPG. Why even compare it?
#3 - How do you know MGS has been in more 'best of' lists? Got any proof to back up your statement?
#4 - Try playing Super Mario RPG for the SNES before jumping to conclusions.
#5 - Just so you know, Square made Super Mario RPG. There are lots of Final Fantasy references, easter eggs, and even a boss from FF. (Culex) And yeah, SMRPG was the first RPG to use 'timed hits'. (which is quite popular in RPGs nowadays)

          1) Uh...Generalization, complete disregard for opinion? YOU conveniently missed that, attempted to re-enforce HIS OPINION with even more general and pointless data about THE SEQUEL.

Attempt at being a smartass = Failure

          2) Because MGS HAS been considered one of the best games of all times (notice I said HAS BEEN CONSIDERED? Might wanna take some notes) so I'm using high standards here.

          3)
          quote
Metal Gear Solid has appeared in many "best games of all time" lists. In September 2004, PSM ranked it #1 on its "Final Playstation Top 10" list in honor of the Sony PlayStation selling 100 million units. ref In 2005, IGN editors placed it 19th out of the "Top 100 Games", while the readers voted it to 9th place. Members of GameFAQs ranked it the 8th best, and readers of Japanese magazine Famitsu ranked it 50th in a 2006 poll. It also placed 23rd in Entertainment Weekly's list, and 17th in both Electronic Gaming Monthly's and Game Informer's lists. In 2005, GamePro ranked Metal Gear Solid first in their list of "10 Modern Classics Every Gamer Should Own."
In short, just about almost any resource you would look for has referenced MGS in a "Best of" list.

          4) Unfortunately I did play Mario RPG, even though I rented the game, I still liked the FFVII demo on the PSX better, and I *bleep*ing hate turn-based games.

5)The same company could have developed it, I really don't give a crap, they're obviously not the same game, and let's face it, how many people care (besides the fans) who originated what game features nowadays?

          And just for kicks:

          quote
Metal Gear Solid was a commercial success, shipping over 6 million copies worldwide. Upon release, it was one of the most rented games, and topped sales charts in the United Kingdom. The game was generally well-received by the media, and was given high scores by some of the most prominent gaming critics. Gaming website IGN awarded the "incredible" rating of 9.8/10, and the GamePro website gave it a score of 5/5 in the site's retro feature. GameSpot granted a lower rating of 8.5/10, calling it "revolutionary" but criticizing its short length and low difficulty. It received an Excellence Award for Interactive Art at the 1998 Japan Media Arts Festival.

Electronic Gaming Monthly awarded Metal Gear Solid the unprecedented Platinum Award (four perfect scores of 10), and it was the first game they gave this award to. IGN editors ranked Metal Gear Solid as the best PlayStation game ever, and gave it the "Best Ending" and "Best Villain" awards.

Can't say I'm interested, though Pyrazor brings up a good point about the Mario RPG's. Hmm...I'll wait for reviews nonetheless.
