Just two months away from being complete for the Xbox Live Arcade, Goldeneye 007 has been canceled due to a dispute over the terms between Microsoft and Nintendo.

The GoldenEye port has been in development at Rare for several months, and was never intended as a remake. The XBLA version would have featured the same graphics, maps and weapons from the N64 version, but with the crucial addition of online multiplayer over Xbox Live. Several characters wouldn't make the cut due to licensing issues with certain actors.

      Lol at South Park refference.

This is bad news though, considering it was a good game. It's a shame about some of the characters not making it into the game either, it would certainly be odd to say the least.

Unfortunate news, 007 was a truly great game and would have been a nice little addition to the library.

Now hopefully they release it on the VC or WiiWare with online play.

Both companies could make a lot of money out of this. Something needs to be worked out.

That sucks. I really want to play that game with online mode. This would definitely be the sweetest arcade addition to date. i hope they work something out to make it happen.

I'm actually kind of surprised this was canceled. They definitely could have made a lot of money off of this. I have a feeling something will be worked out in the end though.

Indeed. It makes no sense all around. Good money to be made, happy fans to be satisfied.

I employ everyone to do what they can to get people to sign this petition, starting with their own signature. Sure, it aint much, but if fans make a big enough stink they just might reconsider.

I knew there would have been a dispute between the two companies. -_- Said it in the other topic. Shame though, would rather play a great classic like Goldeneye on my 360.

Who the hell thumbed down all these comments? Fixed.

You could wait 5 years for Nintendo to bring it out on the VC I suppose.

Such a legendary game, it would be good if it came out for both the Wii virtual console and the XBLA, both having online play. Ah if only..

I just signed bringing it up to 13,238

Would like to see this one on live

Get the petition high enough and companies might listen to the consumers for a change
