Surprise, surprise, the latest videogame movie adaptation from Uwe Boll - The Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale - has failed to wow cinema goers in the US in its opening week of release.

According to ticket sale estimations on the Box Office Mojo website, A Dungeon Siege Tale has managed to take approximately $3.3 million USD in its first week showing on a generous 1,600 screens across the United States. By way of comparison, other opening week movie performances range from First Sunday, which has taken around $19 million USD at 2,200 screens.

Well, it's not surprising. You can't exactly name a lot of good game movies. A lot of them just fail for some reason...like Doom unfortunately, that movie had some nice visual effects and what not but no real point other than to just kill stuff, and that doesn't work in movies (at least when the movie doesn't have a plot...or much of one). The only real game movie I can think of that I like is the old Sonic The Hedgehog movie. Sonic vs Metal Sonic = Fun Fun. Hopefully if people continue to go after game movies though, they'll attempt to make it more interesting for people in general, and not just the gamers interested in the game.

Its because they dont even have anything to do with the game story line. Its just losely based on the game and ends up geting screwed.

Actually, it's because it's Uwe Boll. Seriously, he's one of the worst directors I can think off. I can't think of a single good movie he has directed.
