The announcement of the Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition apparently had mixed responses, with many fans believing that the DMC4 game, four DMC anime episodes, a making-of DVD, and a Steelbook case wasn't worth paying $80 for. Well Capcom listened to the fans and decided to add a "special something" to certain games.
One hundred Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition games are going to be personally signed by the game's producer, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, to entice gamers into buying the CE version of the game. And gamers won't know which ones have been signed until they open their game's case and see if they got the lucky "golden ticket" of DMC4.

In spite of what the typical gamer believes about our industry, most of our conversations at Capcom center around exceeding gamers high expectations and not simply about maximizing the dollars we can extract from you. Satisfied customers that feel respected and valued will reward the best companies over time. It happens in every other industry and in the end the shakeout in our industry will center around customer satisfaction and value.

When we announced the Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition I really thought that the fans would be thrilled about the Anime bundle, but the response was mixed. Many of you talked about seeing an episode of the Japanese version on youtube and so what was the point of buying all four volumes with the Collector’s Edition. We respectfully disagree, but we listened, so we decided to add another unique item.

For what I believe is truly a first in our industry, DMC4 producer Kobayashi-san (also producer of Resident Evil 4, nuff said) has personally signed 100 copies of the PS3 and Xbox 360 Collector’s Edition tin by hand. We are now going to reintegrate these signed tins into the game manufacturing line and randomly distribute them across the US to a number of retailers and distributors. It might not be the keys to the candy factory, but it will be a rewarding, personal touch for a few lucky DMC fans.

Heck, I wouldn't mind getting the bundle with Anime on it...even for $80 Canadian...

I'd go order it now (errr, soon anyhow, it is early morning), were it not for the fact that I'm broke >_>

Why are people complaining about paying 80USD for a game?
That's the RRP on most games in the UK.

I doubt my local game store would have the 'golden ticket.' -_- Meh, $80 is too much for me right now, but if they sell out the regular copies by the time I get there, I'll get it.

I'm getting a bit burned out on these special edition games. They are starting to flood in too much. It's pretty similar to comic books. At first there would be one or two special covers for #1's. Then there would be 5 or 6. Then they would start adding 1/5000 super special edition on top of the 9 or 10 already done......you get the picture.

It would be cool to have, but just like comics I found it can be easily lived without as well. ~.^

I've never bought any collector's edition of any game, but $80 for what they're putting in this one sound like more than a bargain. A signature isn't going to make the deal any better. I have no idea why people were complaining in the first place. If it was the price, THEN DON'T GET THE COLLECTOR'S EDITION.

That makes me laugh since the game alone will cost more than $80 over here in the UK. I guess it's what we're used to, but heck, it's cheaper to buy a bunch of games in America and get them shipped over, especially with the Dollar being so weak right now.

Hilarious really. Whoever said Willy Wonka, that's what went through my mind. Of course, we're not talking about candy bars here. Even so, one obsessed fan is all it takes for the non-winners to pile up at your local Gamestop. The price will shoot down to like 20 bucks eventually.

Wouldn't go that far....A super obsessed fan might buy a few and hope for the best...

But the price would hardly drop that much >_>

I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the first "Greatest Hits" titles for the PS3 (after Resistance, of course, and perhaps Motorstorm, and a couple of others)....
