Brawl keeps looking better and better. I have a feeling that Brawl will be everything we have been hoping for. More great news includes the reference of a lengthy single player. While we can't be entirely sure on the reliability of Japanese Gaming Magazines, they can be quote based afterall, 40/40 is still an achievement kept for high class games. Then again Brawl is very hyped, although that mostly comes from the great stuff we see on the Dojo. I have to be honest my hopes are up dangerously high...

Why must games be region coded. Stupid PAL.

As if you couldn't be any more excited for Super Smash Bros. Brawl: NeoGAF has scans from Famitsu magazine that show that the game has received a perfect 40/40 review score.

The four reviewers praised the lengthy single-player mode ("you forget the time") and the "surprising" Final Smash super moves.

Yes, it's generally agreed upon that Famitsu scores, and the vast majority of other Japanese magazine coverage, are mostly determined by the exchange of money or other considerations that fall outside of independent editorial judgment.

But Famitsu only very rarely gives this score out, and historically it's only been to one game per console. This is only the seventh 40/40. The others went to The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, Soul Calibur, Vagrant Story, Zelda: Wind Waker, Nintendogs, and Final Fantasy XII.

Point is, no matter how this score came about, this is an excellent sign for Smash Bros.' chances in Japan. Note that the review text still carries the original ship date of January 24, meaning that the delay must really have been a last-minute decision. Speculation on NeoGAF that Nintendo couldn't produce enough copies of the game to meet retailers' unexpectedly high pre-orders would suggest that this one is going to explode out of the gate.

It kinda stinks that brawl got delayed again but the fact that they're pushing the date back to make it the best it could possibly be is just magnificent. If things keep going smooth for Brawl it might surpass Zelda: The Ocarina of Time which is the best game of all time and got an overall rating of 99 points. Thats the highest rating in gaming history, If brawl lives up to the hype, there will be no doubt in which it will surpass that rating and become the greatest game in History.

    Only time will tell

No matter what the score, I would have bought the game XD It's cool that the game got a perfect though from Famitsu. I'm sure this will be one of the best games of the year.

Good Christ. This must mean they're going to absolute nuke everything else coming out in March. Spring season even. I can't wait.

Wow, that's one hell of a score! Galaxy had a 38/40, so this is definitely an accomplishment. It's nice to hear that the full-blown single-player mode impressed them. SSB has always been about multiplayer, but the single player mode in Brawl is pretty much a full game itself.

Although, like neto said, it doesn't really impact me much since I already bought the game (pre-ordered). This will make the delay rather unbearable, though T_T...

Nintendogs isn't very good but WW is the best Zelda in my and most of my friends opinions, it's also the best game on the GCN maybe beaten by Melee.

Melee = one of the worlds greatest ever games
Brawl = Melee + stage editor + online + more customization, activities, characters, stages, etc. + awesome story with good cutscenes

Brawl is already ages ahead of one of the greatest games of all time before it even comes out. Brawl has a 99.9% chance of becoming my (and all other smashers) favorite game ever.

        1. I didn't even use the word "gamers".
        2. You misspelled "misspelled". x2

2 is correct but you spelled gamer 'smasher'.

          Chekkaa Jan 24, 08
          *sigh*

Smasher = person who plays SSB

Gamer = person who plays games (usually video games)

I was just being more specific. The "misspelling" was intentional.

As good as the game is shaping up to be, doesn't anyone think a perfect score is...too much? As Neto mentioned, doesn't matter what the score would be, as it would generally be high for the SSB series anyways, I'd buy it either which way...don't get me wrong, I think it deserves a rather high review, but this just seems like hype more than anything, like they did with Halo 3 reviews. The word perfect...meh.

Well it would be easier for it to be flawless than perfect. If it is flawless in content that would make more sense than being perfect for a game.

Now I forgive the almighty Sakurai. He is making us americans and other countries more games, because he KNOWS they will sell out!

Why didn't Nintendo get the same brain fart when making the wii

Will you Americans stop moaning, your delay is hardly a hiccup from my view.

I read the part, "They rarely give out this high of points..." and Nintendogs got it. Not too great of a game, to base my views on.

Japanese taste is a bit different than American, and while they do like a lot of the same games we like, they really enjoy innovative games and new ways of playing (ex. Nintendogs.)

I do agree that Nintendogs was far from perfect, however.

Japanese people are so much into their own crap that it's obviously apparent with the 360 utterly failing down there for no good reason...other than it's a "Western" console.

To rank Brawl with games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Soul Calibur, Vagrant Story, and Final Fantasy XII is very high praise.

Tbh, I wasn't expecting anything less then perfect with Brawl. The amount of content in this game is mindboggling.
