Price cut fever is positively setting the Internet alight today. This latest rumour of cost adjustment is related to the Xbox 360 Premium and could possibly see Microsoft gut-punching Sony by lopping a further $50 USD from the console on the exact day Grand Theft Auto IV is released to retail.

According to BitBag’s Torrence Davis, a knowledgeable but "unnamed" individual has stepped from the shadowy confines of speculation city in order to tip the (not especially popular) blog that Redmond-based Microsoft will hack another $49 USD from the price of the 20GB Premium Xbox 360 console.

By way of reaction, Davis offers that such a move would be smart considering that "we know millions upon millions of people love the GTA series."

M$ needs to watch it. The 360's price can't be lowered too much or they'll lose some money.

On the other hand, this is the 2nd hurt on the PS3 version; first no DLC, now this.

We'll wait and see which version plays better.

That would be nice. I was planning on buying a 360 around March, but I could wait for a price drop.

Awesome. Pretty good idea too, will certainly boost their sales a fair bit.

I'm pretty certain that microsoft isn't actually generating any profits from the xbox yet. Instead as times going on they're losing less money rather than making more. In other words, they're still selling at a loss and always have been.

I'm sure I'll get corrected if I am wrong though.
