Halo 3 falls to Call of Duty 4 on Xbox Live

Is Halo's dominance on Xbox Live slowly coming to a close as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare knocks Halo 3 from the top spot? Or is this merely a mini surge of Live popularity that will be swallowed by the seemingly unstoppable march of Bungie's all-conquering FPS franchise?

Are the cracks beginning to appear in Bungie’s well-worn battle armour? Well, according to Xbox Live aficionado Major Nelson, Halo 3 has this week been deposed by Activision’s impressive Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Based on weekly unique user figures, Call of Duty 4 has pushed Halo 3 into second on the Top Live Titles chart, with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Gears of War, and Rock Band rounding out the top five.

    Well, COD4 has a superior online mode. So I'm not surprised that people finally realised this.

    Hey, Who cares if H3 is not top dawg online. lol. Halo 1 still has Thousands and thousands of players, most likely, same for Halo 2. Those games stay in the top rankings forever. lol.

    I don't think there's anything wrong with Halo 3, it's just that COD 4 is so good online, people are finding it difficult to stop playing it.

      Exactly. This is no insult to Halo 3. People just realize that CoD4 is a bucket of awesome with awesomesauce on the side.

    It's only natural. xD CoD4 is quite addicting, after all. I personally enjoy it more than Halo 3...prefer realistic to arcade shooters.
