Grand Theft Auto IV Release Date Set!

Rockstar Games announced today that Grand Theft Auto IV will be released worldwide April 29th, 2008 upon the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

Rockstar Games announced today that Grand Theft Auto IV will be released April 29th, 2008 for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 worldwide! YEAH BABY!

“New York, NY - January 24, 2008 - Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV, the new title in the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto franchise. Developed by Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto IV will be simultaneously available for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and will be in stores worldwide on April 29, 2008.

“We are so excited to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV,” said Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. “We’ve pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment.”

    Woohoo! Something to look forward to every month in Spring. February's DMC4, March SSBB, April GTAIV.

    Will begin finishing up my semester, so this couldn't have come at a better time. Gotta reserve it...GTAIV will go off shelves in a matter of minutes, as would other popular titles coming out this year.

    I've had mine reserved and paid for since last June.
    I'm not happy with that date though. I was hoping for it be sooner. It was meant to be March/April not April/May.
    Ah well, at least we have a date I suppose.

    I got my pre-order in with Target, but yeah they stated beginning of March......but I think I will live.....got plenty of games to hold me over.

    Just as long as it doesn't get delayed again. They have a lot of time to make it awesome.

      They have to make sure everything's fine, there's a lot of pressure on them to make it just right and to meet it's expectations. Like you said though, I hope it's not delayed once more.

      It won't get delayed again now that's there's a solid release date instead of a vague "Spring 2008" like before. This is a great time for me personally, just after my exams.

    Perfect date tbh. 2 days after the finals. Man, I'm so hyped! I never preordered a game before so I think this will be my first. ^^

    April 29th? Not a bad release date, actually. I had much trouble with San Andreas and vice City being released in OCtober/November, when things were real hectic in school at the time. April's pretty good, things are winding down and I can enjoy the game.

    This release date is not even in the first quarter. This pisses me off. I had the game purchased before 10/19/07 and now its being released the SECOND quarter NOT the first?! This is so damned disappointing... I think I would punch the crap out of a Rockstar executive if the opportunity were to arise.
