Geoff Keighley on the Mass Effect debacle

mistermostyn | January 25, 2008 | News | XBOX 360
Repeatedly cut off while trying to give valuable insight into BioWare's Mass Effect (and better educate FOX News's apparent panel of experts), GameHead host Geoff Keighley has issued some comments on the Live Desk attack launched against the Xbox 360's award-winning sci-fi RPG.
Keighley, who appeared on the Live Desk segment to defend Mass Effect, was wholly outnumbered and cut short by host Martha MacCallum and a panel of ‘expert’ critics, whose venomous attacks against the Xbox 360 game were only matched by their obvious ignorance regarding the complexities of Mass Effect, the videogame industry, and the ESRB’s software ratings system.

I just did a little write up on this. Fox News should rarely be taken seriously anyways, but no matter how often it happens, I am always astounded by the ignorance of the "experts" when they discuss videogames like Mass Effect.

My favorite part of the interview was when that "psychologist" said that Grown men don't play video games.........Yeah, well tell that to my exes and current wife.

      Exactly!

There is plenty of evidence suggesting that adults (not only grown men, but women too) play video games. It's common sense, and a little sad that there are still people (*cough*Ms Cooper*cough*) who believe games are targetted only at children. Games aren't only for children anymore. Heck, the majority of games are aimed at teens and above.

Good on Keighley for keeping his professionalism during the interview. He did a good job of getting his point across, and didn't lose his cool when he was cut-off or when Ms Cooper started blurting out "facts" that came straight from her ass.

Good move by Keighley. He can better explain himself at his own pace, rather than the bs that happened some time ago, being cut-off and all.

I honestly don't think Keighley did that bad. But he clearly didn't get nearly as much time as the rest of the "experts" on the segment, and no one really payed attention to what he said. Props to him for at least trying, though.
