Everyone's favourite videogame activist and Miami-based lawyer - Jack Thompson - is preparing yet another legal attack on Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive ahead of the April 29 release of sandbox epic Grand Theft Auto IV.
While noting that Take-Two has enjoyed a 12 percent share boost on the back of GTA IVs confirmed retail release date, Thompson warns that the market should also factor in "the downside risk coming Take-Twos way with the sale of this "Mature" game to kids, which is a murder simulator for violence against women, cops, and innocent bystanders "

What happened to all those lawsuits against him? Haven't they occured yet? Or has he somehow wormed his way out of them?
"Its interesting to note that Thompsons latest drive against the Grand Theft Auto series focuses solely on the one mandate he always stands firmly behind while shooting in a variety of different directions underage sales of videogame content clearly labelled for a mature audience. No screaming from the rooftops for Rockstar or Take-Twos blood on this occasion, just a call for retailers to be held accountable for sales of violent videogames to children below the age of 17."
And about the educated parent thing, I think parents need to learn more about what they are buying their kids, after all that is a part of responsible parenting. I'm 18, and I'm NOT a parent, but I know when I do have kids, I will be checking the games I buy for them and even myself. If I deem the ggame too violent or too mature, I won't let them play. If they cry, then too bad, they'll get over it.
Man, when will this guy die and leave our games alone!?
People should remember, he is no longer legally ALLOWED to go after Take2...There was some dealings between Take 2 and Jacko last year, which ended with each agreeing to not go after the other >_>
He can't attack GTA directly now, so instead, he is going on about retailers instead...After all, in his mind, if retailers aren't allowed to sell the game, it will hurt Rockstar anyway >_>
He is on a crazy crusade, he thinks he is in the right (and I agree, no mature games to minors, unless they have maturity to deal with this stuff), but in reality, he is basically a sensationalist, he likes trying to incite fear into parents who are too dumb (or lazy) to know how to figure out the difference between M, T, and E ratings....Like I've said before, it is the same damned principle as movie ratings...
In some ways, calling for a unified rating system makes sense, since some people just can't be bothered to learn a second one, it seems >_>
He'll accomplish nothing, in the long run, I think >_>
The downside of killing him is that it would only prove his point.
Does Thompson know how many people don't care about his claims?
Someone should tell him that everyone has a choice if they want to go ahead and play GTA 4 or not.
