FFXIII Releasing In 2008? Nope... Just A Mis-Translation I'm Afraid...

It was earlier revealed that "Square promise FFXIII For 2008", however as it turns out, this was in fact a mistranslation of what was actually said.

The actual quote went something along the lines of Motomu promising a public demo this year, and what form the demo will take is not mentioned. In fact chances are the demo will only be playable in Square-Enix booths during various gaming conventions this year.

Joystiq go on to say that Nomura has also promised a demo for the Playstation Network "a while before the games release", which is also false. Again, Nomura isn't even mentioned in the article and the Playstation Network isn't mentioned once. There might well be a demo on the Playstation Network at some point, but this article certainly does not confirm it for this year.

    Thanks Krunal, I was having a tough time finding the ACTUAL interview and figuring out WTF was really going on. 2009 US release seems more likely anyway.

    FFXII was released last year or two wasn't it, Krunal?

    I thought as much, just didn't seem likely. They are taking their time with this title, which I prefer them to do. 2009 Spring most likely.

    I'm completely content with just a demo. I put literally hours into playing the FFX demo and seeing all the different items I could get after fighting enemies.

    imo, Final Fantasy is way too overrated, unlike other great games, not that I'll name any though, xD, Maybe I should start playing the Final Fantasy games, eh ?

      thats like saying Halo is the best fps ever, GTFO.

      the Shin Megami Tensei series blows Final Fantasy away.

        No not really. I played alot of different RPG's non comes close to Final Fantasy series.

        Whilst SMT is a good RPG, and no-one denies that, it can't actually compete with the popularity or the depth of FF games. Sure FFXII wasn't the best but those before FFX were simply superb.

    Eh, I'd like to see it in 08, but not if it sacrifices quaity >_>

    Yeah, I doubt it woul be made available on the PSN soon, not until a while after it had been demoed in some gaming convention (Tokyo game show perhaps?), so that won't be until sometime through the next year, I'd think >_>

    Damn I thought finally some good news regarding Square Enix had finally come. News about video games all seems to be negative these days
