Yes, the Japanese release for Super Smash Bros. Brawl is finally here, and it seems that news of the understocking has induced a mad rush of fans who are desperate to buy Brawl before it is sold out.

At midnight queues started appearing at the front of game stores, and by the time the doors opened at 9:00am hundreds of people were waiting in lines that stretched for blocks!

For those living under rocks, Super Smash Bros. Brawl went on sale today. (Devil May Cry 4, too!) Not all stores in Japan were doing pre-reserves. Know what that means? LINES. In front of the Akihabara Yodobashi Camera, there were a hundred people lined up by 9:00am. The line grew to something like 500 people an hour later. Meanwhile, at the Yodobashi Camera, the first in line got there at midnight. By 6:00am, the line grew to thirty people and mushroomed to 300 people by 9:00am.

We're hearing chatter that many smaller stores are totally sold out and that it's harder to secure a copy in Tokyo.

The "idiot" that understocked is Nintendo themselves...

it appears the shortages are worse than anyone thought, with most stores only recieving enough copies of Brawl to cover 15% - 25% of their orders!

They just didn't meet the necessary amount of stock, which is a shame, considering that they did delay the game twice now. Although Japan's delay was a week only.
