It seems that after all the "unofficial" confirmations, Rock Band is now officially confirmed on the Nintendo Wii. EA's CEO John Riccitiello has mentioned that it is confirmed. But no additional details yet.

With the recently released “Rock Band” microphone pretty much spilling the beans, it should come as no surprise that Electronic Arts officially announced today the planned release of “Rock Band” for the Wii. They also announced the European launch of “Rock Band” in some form, which is set to take place during the first quarter of EA’s financial year–somewhere between April and June of 2008.

During a question-and-answer session with the press yesterday, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello revealed that a Wii version was indeed coming. No details yet on how they intend to handle downloadable content, what pricing will look like, when it will be released, or whether or not the Wiimote’s additional functionality will come into play.

I might get this if it's significantly cheaper than the 360 version.

Then again, achievements and DLC would sway me towards 360.

I guarantee you it's no cheaper than the PS2 version, which is only 10 dollars cheaper than the 360 and PS3 version.

Ha. My friend and I were talking about Rock Band like almost all night last night. We even said it should go on the Wii. Lucky guess.

I'd definitely buy it when I get the money to.

If my Guitar Hero 3 Wii experience was a pleasant one then I would be excited but it wasn't. I find the Wii guitar to have really dodgy reliability after 10 hours total playtime. Notes are missed that I know I hit. Truth be told I blame it on the guitar/Wiimote connection.

In any case, good news for Wii only owners and hopefully you won't need Wiimotes for the peripherals.
