Nintendo won't take blame for Brawl's bugs. They blame the fans and ... tobacco?

Gothic Girl | February 01, 2008 | News | Wii
Considering the hype surrounding Super Smash Bros Brawl, Nintendo really don't seem to be on the fans' side lately. There has been major understocking, problems with the online mode, and now there is an error when the game boots up and plays videos ... and Nintendo refuses to take responsibility for it. In fact, they are blaming the fans for this one - Yes, they are blaming any bugs that Brawl might have on the customer's inability to clean their Wii. Apparently Brawl gets buggy if a Wii is covered in too much dust or tobacco smoke.
After reports emerged of Brawl encountering errors upon booting (and also of sluggish video playback), Nintendo have sat down, looked at the problem and decided that problem is not on their end. It's on your end! They reckon it's all down a dirty disc lens, caused by a buildup of dust and...tobacco. Other games haven't seen this problem because Smash Bros is one of the few Wii games to date to ship on a super-sensitive, dual-layer DVD. And because Average Joe can't clean a disc lens himself, Nintendo are offering to clean affected Wiis for free, no doubt in exchange for some condescending comments about how to better take care of your console. So there you have it, Japan. Quit smoking! It's bad for your health and your Wii.

Jesus your blaming the fans, Seriously? The same loyal fans who has been waiting for this game since October or November. What does this have to do with Brawl problems. 80% of the Nintendo Wii fans right now doesn't even have the game, maybe less. I'm sorry but this statement right just lost major Respect.

Obviously you need to clean your systems, but not every Wii owner smokes tobacco.

Cheap excuse yet, but at the cost of major respect? I've seen worse.

I can't even believe a disc would be so sensitive to be affected by dust buildup.

My WarioWare wouldn't work until someone told me to blow gently into the disc drive. I tried it after not having any other options, and to my surprise, it worked.

It is ridiculous for Nintendo to be blaming everyone on this though. If it was only a couple of instances, then sure.

I remember that . I was surprised it worked, too. I just said the first thing that popped into my head.

I hope gently blowing into the disk slot is enough to get Brawl to run properly, though.

    lol

If they keep this up I don't think they will last too long with their console war against Sony and Microsoft. They'll most probably lose their customers to the other two competitors.

Absolutely pathetic. If there was one game that would make me buy the Wii it would be this one, and yes I'd most likely only buy this game for it, but a game filled with this many errors... I may just pass.

My sentiments exactly. Im with you, this would be the only reason for me to buy the game since im a fan of SSB, but with these delays and errors im like shying away from it.

The only errors is the Wi-Fi online. The solo player will stay the same without any errors or glitches.

Still, this is pathetic. Nintendo, pplease, I was a Nintendo fan since I was born with the gold old NES and I always had faith in you. But now, your just making pathetic excuses to escape the angry fans. Nintendo, fix this. Everyone knows you can't handle online, fix it now. Or the Wii might be my last Nintendo console.

I can't believe that they'd say something like this. Nintendo's been in this business for well over a decade, they should know better than to just blame the fans.

Diddo. I also didn't expect Nintendo to be like this. I always supported their products in the past. And this game was looking so good and even I was thinking of buying a Wii just for it and Mario Galaxy.

Wait. They blame dust and tobacco, but how the does it get in the Wii's internal?

Nintendo just needs to fix any errors that are in the game. That's all there is to it. Blaming fans isn't going to change anything.

Is any game worthi being blamed ofr it's bugs, waiting for ages to get it, and then dealing with Buggy online and bugs in the SP modes to boot?

With all the delaying and the massive content being inserted into this game, it's not a tremendous surprise this would occur. They actually NEEDED more time to complete the game if these glitches are occuring within the game, but delaying the game even further would upset the impatient fans....

And yet blaming the fans for the problems wouldn't upset fans right?

Well, fans can by hypocritical at times. They say not to rush the game, but then complain when there are delays that should help make the game better. If there were bugs and they knew about them, they should have delayed the game.

I used to think Nintendo was the more gamer-friendly company of the three, but lately they sure seem to be losing respect in the gaming community. And this, well... this is just freakin' ridiculous.
