Suda51, founder of Grasshopper has told MCV that No More Heroes was originally going to be on the Xbox 360. The boss of Marvelous Interactive had other ideas and thought it would be a better to produce the game on the Wii because of the controls, so that's what happened.

Grasshopper founder Suda51 has told MCV that he first planned for Rising Star’s No More Heroes to be an Xbox 360 title.

Speaking exclusively in the No More Heroes Recommended Extra magazine given away free in this weeks’s MCV magazine, Suda51 said:

“Originally, I’d wanted to make this game for Xbox 360, actually. [Marvelous Interactive boss] Wada-san had information about the new Wii and how the new controller would work before it came out, so that’s why he thought I should produce the game on that format.

“At the time, I didn’t really understand why, but after seeing and understanding how it works, I think it was a good choice and the controller works really well with the game.”

Not at all. Almost all in the 80%-90% range. The reviews did range from perfect 100% to one 60% because it's a...unique game, to say the least. It's a wacky game, and there are people who just don't "get it", but the general press reaction has been very positive. It has it's flaws, but if you appreciate what it does than you'll enjoy it. Just don't expect it to be a serious game. I mean, you jack off with a laser sword.

It would be interesting to see what it would have been like on the 360, but it does fit very well with the Wii remote. I mean, would recharging the sword's batteries really be very fun without using the Wii remote? It works great in combat, as well. Still, I would have bought it on the 360 just because I love Suda's work.

Marvelous game. Replay value is excellent.
Of course, this would just suck on Xbox 360. I'm very glad it's for the wii since you can use the wiimote for your sabersword etc.

I wouldn't see it doing nearly as well on the 360 since the main genre of it seems to be FPS's. Besides, I think that without the Wiimote, this would've just been a normal beat-em-up.
