Microsoft have finally come out and quashed the rumor that the RTS based on Halo, Halo Wars will be on PC. They insist that Halo Wars is 360 exclusive to gain full potential of the controls.

Microsoft has insisted that its forthcoming Halo Wars game is being developed exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Recent rumours have suggested that the real-time strategy game will also be available for PC users when it is released later this year.

However, a spokesperson told IGN: "Halo Wars is being developed from the bottom up for the Xbox 360 and its control scheme to ensure that we deliver a groundbreaking console RTS experience.

"Given that, we have no plans to develop Halo Wars for Windows Vista at this time."

Why is a console RTS so special? Yes, I know it's Halo, but seriously. And the move to not make a PC port is rather strange, since PCs are perfect for RTS's.

They wanted to make a DECENT RTS for the CONSOLE.

Not just make one for PC then port it.

They said this before multiple times as I recall. Maybe a year after it's out they'll have Halo Wars on PC but for the moment, it'll be 360 only.

Because it's informing you that there's news in the Halo Wars for the PC department. It isn't coming for the Wii or PS2 or Genesis. It's news about the PC brand.

A swing and a miss by Bungie. The only console that I can see being a good RTS handler is the Wii, and the more I think about it the more I want to see it happen.

i dont see how a console can effectively handle the complexity and controls of a proper RTS. to make this easy to use with the console gamepad it will end up being seriously dumbed down and will be nowhere near as complex as a proper RTS should be.

Dumbed down version of an RTS: Exactly what this will be. When the developers emphasize "It looks like a warthog/It feels like a warthog" more than the game itself... yeah.

Given that, it will sell better than any other game released in the same month.

I don't get it, what is it about RTS that the controller can't do?

In my experience when playing Starcraft it mostly included:

    Highlight Unit(s)/Building
    Hotkey command
    Repeat

Now why can't the controller do that?

You were dong it wrong, obviously.

I'll ask again, what is it that the controller CAN'T do???

It's not that it can't do it, Starcraft 64 existed. It's just that the keyboard and mouse combo is superior than any design they can do with a controller. Even the reviews I read for C&C Cdemon mentioned made points of "What might require only a keypress in the PC version may take a more elaborate series of trigger pulls, stick moves and button presses on the Xbox 360 version." and sorts of that nature.

Then the controller isn't necessarily obsolete. I mean, with games like Civilization: Revolution coming to the consoles, developers find a way. Like Map scrolling, Hold a trigger and move a stick, that's not hard, is it? Hotkeys? Even Bethesda and Epic Games did this on consoles, you can use the D-pad to cycle through custom-made hotkeys or hold another trigger and cycle through the hotkeys...again, simple, right?

Whatever differences between the controllers and keyboards are overexaggerated beyond belief. Of course I know that the KB/Mouse combo are better but that doesn't mean that the controller is rendered obsolete, especially when there are people like me that can't stand KB/Mouse.

Funny because C&C3 on the X360 got pretty good review scores and was pretty simple to play. That game was designed for a keyboard, so I can imagine Halo Wars, which is being designed for a controller, being a lot better.

Yes I Agree I own both versions and I can play the 360 version fine.
