Cheap PS3 games in Japan.... Sort of....

Guticb | February 03, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
Sony is reportedly about to launch something similar to their greatest hits for the PS3. For those that don't know what the "Greatest Hits" line of games was, it meant that the game had sold well and gotten overall good reviews. When a game got Greatest Hits status, the price of it got dropped to about $20 and it got a "Greatest Hits" logo on the case.

Sony is supposedly about to launch something similar for the PS3 in Japan. There's a catch though! The games will sell for about 3800 yen, which is actually $30, $10 more than PS2 greatest hits games cost!

Lets just hope it costs $20 in the States.

Sony Japan is set to continue a PlayStation tradition with the PlayStation 3: an official budget lineup. A Japanese online retailer has posted listings for the first set of PS3 titles to fall under the new "PlayStation 3 the Best" lineup.

According to the retailer, PS3 owners in Japan will soon be able to pick up PlayStation 3 the Best versions of Resistance, FolksSoul, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Gundam: Target in Sight, and Ridge Racer 7 for 3,800 yen each. All five will arrive on 3/19.

Platinum was XBOX. You really never saw a greatest hits box with the red highlight?

Silver Mirror...have you never had a PS2? Have you never set foot in a game store for that matter?

Its not something the average gamer should be unaware of >_>

Well, what do you expect though? The PS3 is still fairly new, and the PS2 is dated....I'm sure that down the line, greatest hits PS3 titles will drop down by about $10....Anyhow, Canadians have to pay about $250 - $30 for greatest hits titles (aside from the cheaper ones that are probably similarly cheaper in the US anyway).....

Why the hell would that be a "catch?" PS3 games cost $10 more than PS2 games, so why wouldn't PS3 greatest hits cost $30 instead of $20?

Uhh I had a PS2 for 5 years. It appears however that only the PAL regions got Platnuim, Amercia and Japan apparently got greatest hits.

"Greatest Hits" Kinda became a joke after a while anyway and they starting selling BS titles under that just to get rid of Software. But I would love to see some PS3 games in the $30 range. You can't beat 2 games for the price of 1.
