Rumors: Dead Rising 2 in the works, GOW: Chains of Olympus heading to PS2

Vito Raliffe | February 04, 2008 | News | Playstation 2 Playstation 3
In the latest issue of EGM in the rumors section, Dead Rising 2 is supposedly in the works for multiple consoles, and God of War: Chains of Olympus is supposedly coming to the PS2. For more information and rumors, go to the source.
The March issue of EGM should be arriving for subscribers around this time, and as usual Quartermann has some rumors for us, and particularly juicy ones at that!

The one I am most interested in is that Dead Rising 2 is in the works (ya think?) for multiple consoles, but instead of Capcom developing it directly, a Los Angeles based developer is taking care of it. Dead Rising 2 rumors seem to have become a sort of fad, something that people will throw out there just for some news. I hope this rumor has more going for it, as I want my damn sequel already! Dead Rising is still one of my favorite 360 titles, and I can just imagine what crazy shit they come up with for this one. More goofy outfits and ridiculously powerful weapons based on other Capcom games please! Maybe a Phoenix Wright outfit! DO THIS.

The second rumor I am most interested in (but would be even more if I didn’t buy a PSP) is that God of War: Chains of Olympus will be heading to the PS2 eventually, much like the Grand Theft Auto games for the PSP, or more recently, Silent Hill: Origins and Twisted Metal: Head-On. I would rather control Kratos with two analog sticks up on the big screen, but it is more a matter of if I am willing to wait for its release. I bought the Grand Theft Auto games for the PS2 because I didn’t own a PSP yet, and controlling those games on the PSP would be a bitch.

More information and rumors at the source.

I truly doubt they will port Chains of Olympus on the PS2. It would just be stupid. They waste our(fans)time waiting for the PSP version o be released, only to know there is a port in the future. Sounds like horrendous idea if you ask me.

But its a rumor and im taking it as a grain of salt to be honest.

One more thing, this is from 1Up so its even more uncredible. The same idiots who claimed there was going to be FF7 remake this year, please get real.

It's happened more than a few times. Easy profits to gain from it too, so I don't see what is so stupid about it. Not all people who have PSP's have PS2's or backwards compatible PS3's. There are people that buy both versions too. I myself see it happening eventually. I rather it does in fact.

Did you or did you not take notice of the games listed that have already gone through the same process?

Did you or anyone else realize that this game is SPECIFICALLY for the PSP controls. In order for this to even work, people need to wait for 6 months to a year at least to have this game be ported. Its a stupid idea and i doubt its going to happen.

They poured their sweet and blood to make this game epic for a hand held, no one will buy this version if there is a console version coming, its bad all around for RAD.

Plenty of people will buy it regardless of whether there is going to be a port made. You know those GTA games mentioned before? They were specifically built for the PSP controls too, yet they got ported after a while.

Many God of War fans with PSP's are not going to wait months for the PS2 port. I know I won't, and yet I'll still probably get the PS2 version too. I don't see what is so stupid about it. It has happened before too, and I don't think developers would keep doing the ports if it caused the problems you're suggesting.

Vito my point was that People who like God of War who don't have a PSP isn't going to wait months or years for a port, when they can buy a PSP bundle that has Chains of Olympus. The PS2 version won't be better, just the same, theres no point. The PSP is using 333MHZ(i think), full power, that is better to the PS2. Why make a dumbed version. Again this won't happen and it shouldn't imo. Cause if thats the case We might as well as Crisis Core on a PS2 as well. god_of_war_chains_of_olympus_to_use_psps_max_speed

They have left the PS2, God of War team, Ready at Dawn are no longer making games for it, they said this previously. Why make a game for the PS2, doing so makes them a hypocrite. Same as SE, they too left PS2 for PS3 and making a few titles for hand helds. Seriously its just not going to happen.

I really want Capcom to make DR2 and not some American based company. Capcom know zombies. They live zombies. Their employees are zombies. They know exactly what to do to make it awesome.
These american developers will probably bump up the gore ten-fold and throw the storyline to the back.

Dead Rising 2 should be a real hit. Capcom will make a killing. (Pun intended)

Pretty clear this dipshit has never played a GTA game on the PSP.

    - @finalblade: Do you honestly believe that people would be a $100++ PSP bundle rather than a $50-$60 PS2 game??? It's gonna happen despite whatever developers say, and you gotta be seriously naive not to think so.

finalblade you are the jack of all asses. Please grow out of your know it all attitude, its tired and annoying, especially when you don't know anything. You always post these links and 'I told you so' stories as if none of us knows whats going on in the game world. Do you need a pat on the back that badly? You are the LAST person to be educating someone. Grow up kid and make an attempt to adopt some logic in your life.

How about you guys grow up and stop with comments like this towards me. The point is Ready at Dawn has left the PS2, and right now the PS2 is practically gone. Not alot of devs are making games on it, and im assuming by the end of this year the PS2 won't be supported.

RAD just like SE has moved on. This is just a rumor and unlike some im not going to say yes its going to happen when its just a rumor.

I just don't see this happening. God of War has never been ported, its not the kind of game that would. Again im not here for pats im here to make points and back up my statements. If you think thats what im after then your wrong. Its a rumor, and until its been officially stated by the team themselves its not going to happen, and im taking this as a grain of salt.

iLLmatic, you're supposed to be arguing about the subject. You did nothing but flame finalblade. I've been reading GameGrep articles for a while and you always seem to pop up in the comments with something negative to say.

Meh. i'm getting the PSP version even if it is ported to the PS2.

I am a big fan of portable games, and a PSP port on the PS2 won't feel complete.

It is possible CoO could be ported. And it doesn't have to be Ready At Dawn to do the port. That's how the game industry is these days.
