A Rant On Bosses: Final Fantasy & Shank
13 hours 59 mins ago
The rumor of a remake of Final Fantasy 7 has been running wild ever since the release of Square Enix's tech-demo a few years ago and this rumor has been put down and recovered numerous times over the past years.
This time however, we get probably the most definitive answer yet, until the game is either officially announced or officially canned.
This makes the most sense, the possibility of a FF7 remake is completely dependent on Square-Enix's schedule. Mostly the completion of FF13 and FFv13. There's no doubt a huge demand for this game and I'm sure SE realizes this, and I'm also sure they would have no qualms remaking it, it all just comes down to time.
This month's edition of Official Playstation Magazine has a small follow-up to the interview they had last issue with the director of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core; Hajime Tabata. Quite a lot of the questions actually revolved around the Final Fantasy VII franchise though, rather than Crisis Core itself.
It is worth noting that when asked again about the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII remake, he said:
"The possiblity for a remake may become greater if, for instance, the schedules of the original members of the Final Fantasy VII development team, such as Kitase and Nomura, open up"
So development of a Final Fantasy VII remake could possibly start after the completion of Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII?

Regardless this isn't a confirmation we knew this while ago, its nothing new imac. Its obvious that if they have time after finishing the current titles this could possibly happen.
Plus they'd add extra features and stuff, I'm sure >_>
Keep the gameplay the same, and I'll get it...
Hmmmm, which game would you pick...
Game A - Crap graphics, decent story (no, I'm not one of those people who says "FFVII = Sent from Above")
Game B - Much better graphics, and the same basic concept (RPG)...
If a game's story is only decent, I'll sure as hell take the games that have better graphics AND decent stories...
If I had said "FFVII is teh suXXors!11!!11!" or something similarly stupid, that is one thing, but I simply said the graphics turned me off....
You don't know me, or my tastes. Graphics aren't everything to me, but the story and game wasn't that great IMO...It was alright, but I had other, newer games, that I liked more...I had played through probably more than half the story (was partway through the second disk) before I got tired of it...
And guess what? MY FAVOURITE GAME OF ALL TIME has PS1 era graphics >_> That game is Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, and I still play it (now on the PSP)...The software studio isn't known for their fancy graphics, but addictive gameplay...I still play the PSP version, and their next game (on the PS3) looks very much the same as the PS2 version...
Next time don't assume that I don't like the game simply because the graphics were bad, PERHAPS I simply genuinely didn't care that much about it to begin with....
Besides FF7 probably has the best indepth-storyline out of all FF games to date. graphics isn't everything buddy especially since this game was out on the FF7 and it had the best graphics of its time, FF8 actually surpass it.
Obviously the people who has played it, doesn't want it to change in the storyline, but i would love to play this game again(over hundreds of times) in modern day graphics. It just increases my love for the game. I still think this is the best RPG game of all time as well but thats my opinion.
They've basically dug themselves into a hole with all this hinting and "maybe, maybe nots". They keep building up the hype with these possibilities, now they've gotta do it.
Im a big supporter for the remake you know that, but then nothing is absolute, just like this. I agree with what you said, that they should remake it, but we are just the minority of it all.
