Fox strikes again. Claim Videogames will destroy the Earth!

Silver Mirror | February 07, 2008 | News | XBOX 360 Misc Gaming Tech/Hardware
Not satisfied with filling the public's heads with blatant lies concerning the game Mass Effect. Fox have now put up article on there site which claims Videogames are causing the death of the very planet. It tries to pass itself off as a article concerning all electronics, yet somehow moves sideways to attack videogames.
Not satisfied with making an utter fool of itself over the Mass Effect "controversy," Fox's pathetic attempts to discredit the games industry have reached new levels of ridiculous as it jumps on a recent hypocritical news piece for its site. The "news" source's Web site has published a story (with a stupid headline) that claims research is now blaming videogames for the eventual decline of Mother Nature herself. It only briefly acknowledged the fact that televisions and computers are actually what the researchers reference in their little assassination attempt.

The report claims that videogames cause people to stay indoors, and staying indoors, suffering from "videophilia," leads to a decrease in one's interest in nature ... this means that they do not care about natural conservation and ... all the bears commit suicide as a cry for help!? I don't know. I don't know HOW they're trying to pass this one off, it defies all logic and sense.

This is utter BS... Same with the Mass Effect thing... There is what like 1 or 2 scenes of Nudity? It's not like that whole damn game is based on this... I have no thoughts on why Fox tries further to make itself look foolish, but I'm sure deep down, they are as sure about themselves as we are.

Seriously, I'd love to see Starfox's Fox order an attack on this Fox. lol.

Seriously, technology HAS done that. But it extends to so much more than simply video games, it's the whole "business" and factory movement that has truly caused the erosion of Nature, via pollution. and kids have long been disinterested in Nature, and that's a trend I see continuing as long as the television continues to dominate.

But blaming it on one form of entertainment that already has seen such harsh cand undeserved criticism like games is just...dumb.

This is b*llsh*t. Why do every person on the face of planet earth pick on Video games? Possibly they're jealous. They didn't have games when they were teens, so JEALOUSY STRIKES.

Fox News is full of utter, biased, bullshit anyway. They're two faced and one sided so I think they should just go kill themselves.

I find it interesting, since playing Shadow of the Colossus actually made me somewhat MORE interested in nature. Same with the Just Cause demo(game sucked, but awesome environments)

Just when I thought Fox couldn't get any more stupid, they take another HUGE step down. Maybe they want everyone to become Amish with the exception of a TV station just for Fox, that way they can feed all the bullshit they want with no competition, and they would feed immense bullshit. They are freakin worse than Jacko right now, and that's just bloody sad. QUICK, EVERYONE SUE FOX FOR INCURRING PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE WITH IT'S BULLSHIT! Maybe then they wouldn't have enough cash to stay on the air...oh what a heavenly dream. Still this is pretty *bleep*ed up, and they need to stop otherwise they will piss off gamers far too much, then the gaming community would hit back hard in some form or another.

I concur the environmentalist is the one killing the planet not video games. This article is funny though. The ignorance of it is quite funny.

    *sigh*

This is just one of the reasons I hate Fox. Misinformation, poor-quality and virtually no balance. They are excessively biased, whether it be in politics or opinions, and their "research" is frequently off the mark. If they weren't a voracious Murdoch-driven money pit, they would have the dignity to shut the *bleep* up about their opinions and report decent news, or otherwise just close down. Fox is probably the most blatantly misinformed news network I've ever seen. They should just stop existing.

Proof that Fox News is composed of virtually all slow learners.

Their last attempt against video games was based on inaccurate information, which also resulted in a author's book getting its shit ruined. How did they think was going to go over for them ?

If anything, video games are saving the world.

Instead of going out and driving, which would expel more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, gamers are staying indoors, keeping more cars off the road, which also keep us from perpetuating the worldwide oil crisis.

    Where's my *bleep*ing Nobel Prive ?

I hate how everyone brands the whole fox news crew biased. Have you ever watch every fox news report on that channel? Not everything or everyone on FN is dense or idiots.

At least i watch the good parts of Fox News. You'd be surprised how good fox news is when compared to CNN who are pro Democrat and the other news stations. At least the parts i watch has a healthy debates between two different parties without killing each other.
And has yet to talk about anything bad about video games.

You'd think that Fox News would tone-down their "video game hate" after EA threatened them with legal action over the Mass Effect report. It's like Fox is TRYING to piss people off.

Too bad for them they are succeeding, and they'll either come across legal action further down the line or they'll have a wave of pissed gamers to contend with if they keep it up.

I'm pretty sure this is to raise some heat/popularity for Fox. I mean, it's gotten us talking, that's probably all that matters to media.

Meh, they can say whatever the hell they want, no one's going to buy it, except Thompson.
